Millburn continues to try to solve its financial issues by asking for a blank check. What it needs to do is to start holding everyone accountable for their performance/results and focus on the educational fundamentals rather than trying to cater to every parents request that the school provide everything under the sun. Having 2 schools has resulted in duplication of administrators and support staff as well as teachers. The enrollment has been steadily declining over the past several years and approaching a level in which the district should only need 1 school rather than the current 2 schools.
The school board is filled with parents with self-interest for their kids that are attending the schools and therefore a significant conflict of interest when reviewing and making decisions for the district which ends up costing district taxpayers.
The district's proposed referedum reflects it is a one time request to increase a cap of 5% to 12% to address what the school board contends is necessary to sustain the school educational programs. Asking to increase a legislative cap by 2.4 times the legilsative cap is totally irresponsible by the school board. But why am I not suprised by such action when many of the board members have one or more children that attend the schools.
Continuing to ask district taxpayers for more revenue will not resolve the fundamental issues of the district.
I say VOTE NO to the Millburn District #24 referedum on April 9, 2013 which should send a signal to the board that they need to get their act together and stop asking the district taxpayers for a blank check.

I agree with the comments posted on March 8th regarding District 24 need to get their house in order and eliminate duplication in spending. It is unfortnuate that there is a significant conflict of interest of having board members that have students and/or a spouse that attends or works at Millburn making irresponsible financial decisions to the detriment of the rest of the community. District 24 community residents need to VOTE NO to the Millburn District #24 referedum on April 9, 2013
