She has to be the worst shot since since those cops shot it out with two brothers at point blank range, and missed all 20 plus times.
Melinda, babe, dogs have four legs, people two legs, can you not tell the difference. See you in about 20 years, moron.

Oh for God's sake, this is a perfect example of why gun control is a valid issue. My heart goes out to the family who lost this young woman. I don't understand why the shooter felt it was necessary to take aim at the dog to begin with. I get stray dogs in my yard frequently and I find yelling at them is usually sufficient to shoo them away, if I feel they need to be encouraged to move on. Such a senseless tragedy.

Agreed. Only the military and police should have guns. Had the British imposed this on the colonies, things would have worked out so much better for the them.

I hope this idiot shooter gets the maximum punishment.

Did the gun fire itself? no it was a person who fired the shot, gun control will only put guns in the hands of criminals, this person used very bad judgement, and should pay for the deadly mistake, anyway isn't there enough laws stating you can not kill?

Carla, please, oh please, guide me on the path of enlightenment. What on Earth does this have to do with gun control? What laws, in your opinion, should be in place to prevent such a tragedy?

Normally, I would have something to say about Liberals and gun control in a story like this. I've been a gun owner and a member of NRA for most of my life, but people doing things like this shakes my belief in gun ownership for all. NOT ALL PEOPLE ARE QUALIFIED TO OWN FOREARMS! A gun is a tool, and like all tools, should only be used by a responsible person. This shooter was just not qualified to handle a gun. Now, the rest of the gun owners will end up with a negitive view from the general public, because of a stupid action from a careless person.

Yes, a tragedy. But we have yet to hear the shooter's side of it. Was she menaced by this dog in the past? I think we can assume it was no lapdog to be shooed away by flapping your apron at it. Too many people choose to keep large and possibly dangerous animals in busy city neighborhoods.

Or busy rural neighborhoods, where they don't always have leash laws.

We do not need more gun control, we need more self control. Then maybe things like this won't happen. She made a poor choice but it is not the gun's fault. Horrible tragedy indeed.

You are right, we do need stricter gun control. Gun control is being able to hit your target.

I agree! We must remove forearms from the reckless! If these crazy people did not have forearms their only option would be to kick people. While getting kicked sucks, it is far less likely to result in death. We need forearm regulation!

My apologies.

If only the dog-owner would have used a leash (a.k.a common sense)-a needless tradegy could have been prevented. My condolences to the families on both sides.

Why people in 2007 still don't understand people have been taught to fear all types of dogs nowadays is ludicrous. In case Hoosiers have not caught on-there are alot of folks who think a dog is better off dead if not involved in a training or rescue operation-otherwise have it on a leash so it is not considered a stray dog. Better yet, move to the country or take your dog to a nearby dog park for the exercise.

BTW-use a leash from now on with our pets is the message so our pets do not become preyed upon.

this is what you get when hicks have firearms. i hope the death and the time you spend in prison was worth not having a dog trespass on your property.
