This story gets more unreal to me the more I think about it. Just shoot your gun outside your house at a dog in your yard? Why would a sane person do that? I hope she does get the maximum time she can get a person with this bad of temper/judgement shouldn't be walking around.

Actually, most likely yes, given the description by the coroner of what happend. While the victim might have still been injured, its doubtful that a ricocheting .22 would have been fatal in that situation. Not enough mass, and not enough velocity, especially if its already bounced off something else first.

I think one of the lessons that should be learned from all of this...I believe in gun ownership but a gun should only be used to defend yourself if your life is in danger, not dogs in your yard.
