I would love to know how many people in Marshville actually knew of the town wanting to spend money to provide sewer and water to the properties going to be involved with this and the results this will give our town. Are you for or against this possibility of a YOUTH DETENTION/TREATMENT FACILITY?? Read about it in other forum. Speak against the annexation that could make this happen. Let the town board know how you feel!!!!!!!!!! August 19 - 7 pm

That is the bottom line!! The city does not care about it's citizens or employees!!!!! All they are thinking about is $. You can NOT put the almighty $ in front of what is right. Amanda and the mayor think they can fix in 1 year what the city has dealt with in the past 10 years (ie. raising taxes, water late fees and so on). I bet Mayor Deese would not approve of this facility being put beside his house and city manager Reid would not want it put beside her house in Matthews. WE DON'T NEED MORE SHIT PUT IN MARSHVILLE!!!!!! We need honest "BUSINESSES" to improve our town not trash! When these folks turn 18 they are no longer eligible for that facility. So do they go to adult prison or are let out on the streets of Marshville homeless and stealing? There is a lot of thinking and ideas that need to be put into this "detention facility" which is what it is with closed circuit tv, locked doors, gated and fenced community. Also has off duty police officers along with security 24/7 and a locked down facility. This is ridiculous this should not even be a thought for our community. The only reason it is, is because the mayor can move and Ms. Amanda don't live here which is WRONG!!! If she is going to be our town manager, then she needs to live here and put up with the crap she has created!!!!!

This town is basically controlled by black Dimocrats. From this, you can know that the wrong thing will win out. Look at Detroit and anywhere else blacks and Liberals have power.

i agree!!!! It should be a requirement that town employees live in marshville. How else does one know this town and get a real feel for it! As for the detention center, why has this been such a secret? It was all so underhanded and sneaky. This sure makes me smell a big rat. Frank and Amanda would be raising hell if this was going to be built near them. What kinds of jobs will this bring to marshville residents? Probably none! Most will live away from marshville and commute.

What a chump. That comment had no place here. You moved to Louisiana--how about posting there. Don't let the door hit you on the backside.

Yes I agree with Marshville citizen. That comment about Stacey was undeserved and inappropriate, luvnut. You think you are being cute but bullying isn't cute.

I've been doing a lot of thinking about this detention center. If it brings jobs and money to our town it might just be worth it. Just saying...

Thats all fine and good, etc unless you are living close to it. Who wants to have a facility such as this in the neighborhood??? Would like to live beside this??? Just asking..... Also the town has raised taxes: was this to generate the surplus savings to help with water/sewer funding? I don't like the was this was railroaded in without any open discussions involving citizens. I also would like to know why was this piece of land chosen. There are hundreds of acres of land available in this region so why this one? Just so many unanswered questions. When this happens it makes me very suspicious.

I'm as confused as a blind lesbian in a fish market.

If the town annexes this property then they will get tax money from the owners--that's good.

If the owners build on the property then the tax value will increase so the town will get more money---that's good

If the owners hire good people who live in Marshville then they are creating jobs--that's good

If the people who get the jobs spend money in Marshville instead of wasting money, time and gas by driving to Munro or Shalutt---that's good

If the businesses in Marshville prosper then banks and service businesses like printing companies will prosper---that's good

You have some valid points, but the bottom line is who wants to live beside or in the same neighborhood with such a jail...I mean "youth dentention" center? It brings down the value of homes. How does that help? Plus, who wants a bunch of jr. crooks in training next door? Just how many of those jobs created will come from Marshville residents? Will any of the professionals want to buy a home in Marshville...especially one close to the facility? I doubt it. More than anything else, I am disturbed by the behavior of town officials. I agree with another poster on here that secret stuff screams suspiciousness.

For the posters who are calling this new development a "Boys Prison" or "Jail", where are you getting this information? I would really like to know the facts on this. If everything is so hush hush, where can we find out exactly what this is going to be? Who can we talk to?

I agree. I'D LIKE TO KNOW THE FACTS TOO. wHY IS THIS NOT BEING DISCUSSED? mOST OF US HAVE GOTTEN OUR INFORMATION FROM THE PAPER ABOUT HOW FAIRVIEW HANDLED THIS. wHEN THE FACILITY IS DESCRIBED AS HAVING FENCING,LOCKED GATES, SECURITY CAMERAS, 24/7 GUARDS, THEN MOST OF US JUST NATURALLY THINK OF JAIL OR PRISON. aS FOR THE NEIGHBORS, i REALLY WOULD NOT WANT TO LIVE NEAR A BUNCH OF JUVENILE DELINQUENTS (PARDON MY SPELLING)

I know that no matter what I say, it don't matter. The town manager and mayor are going to do what they want to do!!!!! But, I will say that I do NOT approve and never will approve of this facility!! It is another problem waiting to happen! They see it and never will care. Like I said Frank can move and the town manager don't live here anyway. So who CARES!!! They are WRONG and don't care about this town. She is just wanting to put something on her resume. THIS IS WRONG!!!! But they don't care!!!!! We need a mayor and town administrator that live, work and care about this town. However, that will NEVER HAPPEN! Put Norma in as mayor and see what she can do for this town!!!! Just saying!!! Norma you are a great role model and the town would be in a much better position if you were mayor!!! Just saying....

If this is such a great facility, then why are the people involved having to be treated as "detained individals". Their families can't control them. Next step after this is Mental Hospital committment. The second application of the Monday evening meeting was to provide water and sewer to the annexed property but stated it was for "Anderson Health Services, Inc.". They haven't even purchased the property or developed a business yet. Mayor Deese said they were involved in this. He also said HE WAS NOT INVOLVED in other annexations during his term as Mayor BUT he signed the paperwork on at least 6 others in the town. It is time to stop the Town Board from being lead blind into this mess. They certainly don't ask questions and are robots with their opinions. Town Manager is not even staying here BUT this will look good on her resume. She should have to maintain a home here. Mayor is busy promoting his book on being an "ex-detained" person. Matthew has given up on the town - the 3 stooges are following the flock & Norma stands alone. What a mess we have NOW!!!

There goes the old "racist" whine again. If we've all heard that once, we've heard it a million times--"nyeh, hyeh, nyeh, nyer a nhracist, so nyeh".
Except White Liberals, and blacks. THEY'RE not "racist", are they? Nahhh, they're little angels.
