How bad is your Windstream DSL?

I'm going on two years now of horrible service from Windstream. Often times I can't even browse web pages it's so slow. God forbid I want to stream a show or movie. If it weren't for taking online classes I would just drop it all together. About 6-8 months ago they finally told me what I already knew, that they oversold their service. Since then they have been telling me "We should have it fixed in about a month".

Who else is tired of Windstreams garbage service?

Sorry you have problems , I have Windstream and love it . You should continue to talk with customer service about fixing your problem . Check with Chris@ PC Tech , he is great with PC issues . could be your PC has something going on. Good Luck

Windstream has had a problem for a long time. We have been without service on several occasions; as long as three days.In the past 3 months we have been down 3 times. We have become dependent on the internet service. Windstream nees to get their act together.

Yea, some people have good service from them, a lot do not though. I've been building PC's for a couple years now and have tried several different comps, modems, cables, etc.. TY for the feedback nonetheless.

I have Windstream. It got so slow I was having trouble just getting online, let alone doing anything. I called Windstream and they sent a guy out who checked everything out and said it wasn't a Windstream problem. He said that I might have a virus or something else slowing everything down. I said that I paid for McAfee Antivirus but he said it might not be working right. He unhooked my computer and plugged in a laptop he brought with him. It was fast! He suggested I take my computer to a shop. I took it to the guy in Wingate and he found 14 trojan viruses and something he said had corrupted my virus program. It was a mess but he got it straightened out and my McAfee works good now. My computer works fast and like a charm now.

I hear ya bro, glad you're back up to speed. Also, ty for the feedback.

I'm no Linus Torvalds but, I have been working on/with computers for years now. I have tested my connection with fresh wipe computers at the interface, bypassing my home wiring, with different modems and cables.

Windstream even admits there is a "latency outage due to an oversold Dslam" in my area. My biggest problem is that continue to sell the service making it even worse all the while advertising "faster than cable". I have lived in Baltimore and Atlanta using Cox and Comcast cable. Both of those absolutely blow Windstream out of the water as far as speed, service, and reliability.

If they provide a customer with dial-up quality, they should charge dial-up prices. This isn't the case though. They tell me when the problem is resolved they will reimburse me for the time that I had bad service. Any half wit person knows this is just something to shut me up and that little to no money will be refunded.

Have a look at the Windstream forum on dslreports.com and you'll see that this is a problem, not only here but several other states.

I would just like to add that I do not live in Waxhaw. I live between Peachland and Burnsville on Anson and Union county line.

I live in the same area. Windstream intermet is a pain to deal with. It. is not my computer

i switched to twc. i was paying 50 for 6mbps and now i get 30 mbps for 50.

I have windstream. I pay for 3mbps witch is as fast as it comes but i get only 0.023 on a speed test witch is very accurate. I cant do ANYTHING with this Crappy internet. They have fiberoptic cables that run to the nearest box but they wont use them because some idoit in matthews wont just tell t to witch from the copper wires to the fiber optic ones. IT SUCKS

Windstream internet sucks. I made the mistake of going with DISH/Windstream with a Mr. Puckett. My DISH sucks.......Windstream is so slow it does not stream stuff, and I pay extra for more speed. As soon as my DISH contract is up I am going back to cable and will never change again. I too check my speed and it is never up to par. DISH is horrible. I have to have a repair man out for DISH regularly, at least I had enough sense to pay for the repair, so it only costs me $15 instead of $95. DISH/Windstream, my advice, DON'T DO IT!!!

Are their not other internet providers in Mecklenburg or Union County? Considering moving there but can't put up with poor internet access or speed. I have ATT DSL service now in another State with zero problems.

Windstream customer service should be re-named 3 stooges tech support.
I was hung up on 3 times, put on dead end hold as many and never did get any help in the span of 4 hours on the phone.
I finally resorted to call the lady that sold this crap to me and left a message to get it out of my house... all of it.
It's back to cable for me (as bad as I hate to)
Windstream blows chunks.... STAY AWAY!

My Internet is down constantly. I have two phone lines, neither will work at the same time. I hate having to go back to time Warner, but I don't see any choice. My service is so bad, I'm waisting money for such poor service.

Matthews, NC no internet or email since noon yesterday on my business account. Called tech support, hung up on 4 times, then on 5th call told there is an outage in my area, no estimate of restoration ETA. My customers don't understand why I use such an unreliable internet provider, and I don't know what to tell them. What should I tell them?

I'm in the Waxhaw, NC area. I am supposed to have 12 mbps service but like most people are describing, the speeds are usually less than 1 mbps in the evenings. They have sent techs out to look at the lines. They are always professional and friendly but the lines at the house aren't the problem. For months, the service tech on the phone would only indicate that they were installing equipment that would resolve the problem but couldn't provide an estimated resolution date. Tonight, support finally provided an estimate resolution date of July 28, 2014... over a year from now. It is disappointing and frustrating that they sell 12 mbps when they know they can't deliver that service consistently and reliably in this area.

I have had some "problems"... They were quick to resolve the issues ... and are very good people to work with... So,... overall... we are satisfied....
