Before you go criticizing Mark Maples, you should know there's at least one officer who swears by him when it comes to prosecuting their cases.

All the comments have good and bad to them but when I look at where the comment orignated it is not from the county having the trouble. Advice is great but where are the GC people at. That is where the differences have to start. Help clean up and be proud of GC.

Unfortunately, GC Resident, most of the citizens of this county are either a) at work at the shipyard, b) too drugged out to care, or c) wealthy and in the current leadership's back pocket.
There won't be any change until new leaders are elected, which really support progress (not this phony "progress" like tulip fields and public bathrooms) and support law enforcement. Again, most people are too lazy to even go to the polls on election day, much less be concerned with the performance of their elected officials on a day-to-day basis. As much as I disagree with his political views, George County needs someone like President Obama who will go door-to-door to get people to vote, and someone who will unite the diverse population we have toward common goals. Too many of our politicians now are only concerned with their own pet projects and goals, to the dismay of many of their voters. If you want an idea of what I'm talking about, read the two mayoral announcements on the front page of today's GC Times--all of it atta-boys and other drivel about how great things are. There just happens to be an article above them about how authorities are barely making a dent in the crime we have experienced. |

You should realize that all judges are bound by the law and the language of it. All alleged criminals are allowed bail by law and the judge must grant it with few exceptions. Brantley, formerly of the judiciary committee, was also responsible for the judges being light on crime. Every time they did crack down, the committee would charge them with something harsh. The judges have to follow the law regardless. Your legislature is responsible for that. Do more research before you accuse someone. Plus if the cop doesn't show up as has happened, its automatic release. |
They were both consenting adults, nothing illegal about that. Possibly public lewdedness if it was in the open but not a sex offense. Teachers can engage in sex, just not with students. |
The judge dismissed the cases because of lack of clear and creditable evidence. None of your allegations have been proven or else you would do something about it. |
Are you serious? It can be done but you better have your evidence laid out as false testimony is a serious offense. |

the whole four mile sex thing with the teacher and the part owner. it occurred fairley early in the night around nine thirty plenty of kids walking around the store with-in bout fifty feet or so, and yes they were butt naked, and close enough to eachother it didnt matter if they or werent having sex. if you think that its ok think of the same incident occuring at walmart or a church in daylight, make them a poor black couple or something other than who they are. it would of gone to trial then. the police werent silenced thats retarded the police did what they were supposed to the two were arrested and taken to jail. thats as far as they could go with it until court day. unfortunalty the judge made sure there wouldnt be a court day, they were both out with in an hour. they plead guilty that nite and paid a minimum fine right then and then both also had their record expunged. why do you think they did that? cause they both knew they were guilty and that the deputies would of been able to cry foul when they were found not guilty. and by the way that was the fourth complaint on that exact same couple and car it was just the first time they were actually caught.
scoop you are retarded too, it had nothing to do with them consenting or not it was the fact that they were naked bouncing on eachother in a parking lot of a open business with minors walking with-in fifty feet of them with a direct line of sight between them, no dark tinted windows on the car and no apparent class or taste either. they did if for the thrill duh, the thrill of getting caught and all that it aint hard to figure out. quit watching cop shows there retarded to they make people stupid to how its really done.

GC needs a leader like President Obama? ROFL....that's the best thing I've read today. Seems they already have the incumbent good ole boy system established that is bent on spending us into prosperity. Get you head out of the sand, or from up your a_s.

XYZ, maybe you should develop your critical thinking skills, and then reread what I posted above. I did not say we need his policies (or politics), I said we need city and county leadership that are willing to get out and knock on doors, find out what their constituents really want, and then organize those citizens to ensure that those ends are met.
Two totally different things, my friend. Don't let your hatred of the president wash out the feats he was able to accomplish. |
What in the hell has this thing called obama done for us? i know NOTHING!!!!! |
Again, read what I posted toward the top of this page. I agree that Obama's policies suck balls, but his community organizing skills are impeccable.
Ok i see what your talking about sorry about that i will say this coon in there is sending us all to hell lord help us all lol |

If any of you are serious about complaining about and reporting the judges, I can send you a form to fill out or direct you to the site itself. It will be up to you to provide the info and evidence required from then on.

Scoop there was a judge in Lamar county (IIRC) that just received punishment as a result of judicial review.
The former Lucedale municipal judge was probably the worst of any local judges I've seen. Thankfully he has moved on, and his young replacement seems to be moving forward in a much better direction. I have seen Judge Howell make some questionable rulings (with a special aversion to one particular deputy), but for every bad decision, I've seen him make many more sound ones. |
Oh one more thing about judicial review: To get anywhere with the Board on Judicial Performance, I imagine a complaint would have to be fairly detailed and use supporting facts--something which the average layperson simply doesn't have the knowledge to do.
The very people who would have this knowledge are the same people who could lose their job should they be identified to the official in question. Hence, this group is very reluctant to come forward with something bearing their name on it. Make sense? |
Exactly what I was warning everyone about. Do it if you want and have the evidence but be aware that it could have consequences. Its easy enough really but should we? I'm not encouraging it but just saying that instead of complaining do something about it. Anyone who can use a comp can do it. Often a judge will be fined $100.00 (maybe) and simply apologize to the parties or commission. Big deal, huh? |
I myself have no problems with them and know them very well. I just believe in action, not words unless they go hand in hand with each other.
