George County deputies fired upon

Two people were injured by gunfire Saturday night (october 25, 2009) when a noisy crowd got violent. Deputies sent to the scene to request that the noise be held down were fired upon in front and around them. Then a crowd of about 75 people stated a brawl at the George regional hospital where the victims were taken by private vehicle. Location of the incident has not been made public. No arrests have yet been made.

Apparently Lucedale is losing control to the gangs that have moved in.

There is much more to the story. Let's just say it's typical behavior from this group of people.

Also, one of the injured people was the one who allowed the party to occur, so it should come as no surprise that this person was injured after allowing all kinds of illegal activities to occur at their residence.

well if it happened in the city maybe the city should have a PRO ACTIVE police chief but at this time of year all hes worried about is hunting and not the city

WWK, the article in the GCT stated that Sheriff Welford called out the entire Sheriff's Office. I do not know if the chief of police did the same.

I was told that it happened at the Lucedale intermediate school across from the new Edwards drug store and Johhny Benyards' place. Why the police instead of deputies were called I don't know. It would seem to be their jurisdiction although getting help is a sensible thing to do.

Scoop, you would be entirely INCORRECT about the location of the original incident. It was in fact within the SO's jurisdiction, not the city's.

ISK I had read the paper today and from the sounds of things im guessing that it was in the county somewhere. and I dont think b. lambert wolud have called out the whole police dept. he would be to worried about overtime.

Sorry No Need, but no can do...I know WWK offline, and he is privy. Again, there's a reason (that even I'm not aware of) why the location hasn't been announced publicly. To post that in a general forum would open myself up to unwanted liability.
