We are moving to the Waco area this summer. We looked in the Robinson area. It is such a hard decision to pick a place to move your family to. Any sugestions on what area we should look at?

First dont ,, unless you just have to.

Next , I have been gone for 26 years and have had to come back for one year for my husbands job.. Hewitt is turning into the next Bellmead/Lacy Lakeview ,, I never dreamed I would be saying that but it is true ...

Woodway,, although you gotta share Midway High with the Hewitt folks ,,, China Spring,,, Robinson .. Lake air drive/ Wooded Acres area ,, Castle Heights,,Crawford, McGregor ,,,,

I was surprised too.. I went garage sailing over there and was shocked at how it resembled parts of Bellmead,, ( where I am now forced to stay until this is over)in population and housing. from Panther way to maybe Spring valley .. there are pockets of OK neighborhoods but there are cheap houses , run down cheap houses, run down apartments. I am at an Apt complex in Bellmead,,a manager called from a complex in Hewitt and said she had a bigger one available and my husband's L-3 location is in Hewitt so I went right over only to find my apartment right here in Bellmead looked better , and had the same people .

You know ,, I really should have also suggested that you rent first... maybe you were already planning on that but just in case.. rent first ,, it will save you money in the long run making sure you even can stand it here and if so you will find one of those neighborhoods that you really like..

We are going to rent first. I think I like the Robinson Area the best. It is not as spread out as the Hewitt Woodway area. Is Robinson not a good area?

Look at China Springs, good schools. Hills of Childress Creek good subdivision.
Hidden Valley is west of Waco on highway 84, expensive but very nice. There are
several other developments near there west of Waco on 84. If you make frequent trips to Waco The commute would be better from Woodway and out 84.

China Spring - We love it here. Great school system. On the downside - You have to go in to Waco for major shopping. You quickly learn to run several errands when you're in town. Only one nice apt. complex - wide range of housing, from basic frame houses to more upscale housing @ Hills of Childress Crk. and a couple of very nice upscale gated neighborhoods.

Few minorities here..........

Waco is a hell hole with only a few redeeming qualities like a great zoo.

I'll adlib to these comments since I'm almost a year behind and several hundreds of dollars short. China Spring is a good place to live. Lorena is also. I definately would stay out of Waco. McGregor is drying up. Crawford has dried up. Bellmead is going totally to the dogs. Hewitt is getting there too. Robinson is also a gossip column. So this is only my opinion. Best of luck to anyone moving into the area!!!

If you want to live by uneducated, or yuppy type people, more to China Spring. If you can afford a house in the 6 figures, check out the better parts of Waco proper.. better quality, close to everything and low crime inside these areas.

China Spring is the epitome of urban sprawl and cheaply built homes. The younger generation is moving towards the city (see the various apartments planned for downtown Waco) rather than the sprawl-like suburbs.

This comment exemplifies the type of people living in China Spring: the absolutely mind numbingly boring Glenn Beck/ Rush Limbaugh worshippers or old, worn out, racist grandma & grandpas.

I'm a white younger conservative with a professional degree and could live in any upscale part of China Spring if I wanted to however as I posted about earlier, people like racist grandma who are useless and a burden to be around aren't my idea of ideal neighbors. The houses there are way too cheap for my tastes and the area is too far from civilization... and the people living there are't civilized.

Keep looking...

Robinson is like living in a small town with the convenience of being within 15-30 minutes of most shopping, doctors, etc. in Waco.

There is not much here, but why would there be when it is so easy to get to Waco's services from here.

The schools are generally good. I don't worry about safety here.

I don't know what planet you came from Chuch, or what part of the world you immigrated from, but you ssure don't know much about Waco. Downtown is the festering point of a very bad pimple. Killings/rapes/robberies/muggi ngs. just a bad place you don't know much about at all. So you shouldn't even be commenting, until you've live around here for 40-50 years. The Brazos River stinks, the crime rate fis spreading from east Waco all over town, Old buildings are being converted to accept Section '8' government subsidized tenants, and the blight is still like back in the 50's, people move out of the run down areas to better places to have a better education for their children/grand children, and to get away from the troubled spots in North Waco and South Waco, and East Waco. And I personally think very highly of the people in China Spring, nice average good citizens, including some of the elite Doctors and Lawyers, business people.

And Chuck, you can call me a racist if you want to, but I'm just telling the Truth as I see it, and have lived it for over 45 years in this area!! And Robinson is still a gossip column!! Just meet at the Dairy Queen, on Robinson Drive, every morning about 10:00 A.M.
