You don't have to be an extreme "prepper" to have a garden. It's just common sense to grow your own vegetables to feed your family. So many of our youth have no idea what fresh-from-the-garden tastes like anymore. I garden, dehydrate, and can my goods, just like previous generations. I'm not a prepper, but I like being prepared. Keeping one step ahead of the game in life is just using your noggin' these days. My yearly pay keeps me just barely (like $175.00 barely) over the poverty level. A pack of seeds to grow your own meals is pretty cheap!
I though gardening in the basement was for "other" crops, lol.
