You may have grown up in Carrollton but you apparently didn't make the most of your educational opportunities. Do you talk about others because you don't know how to write?

I am the product of CHS. When I said I wanted to go to college, he informed me that unless my parents could pay for it, I could not go. He said I would make a good wife and mother. 22 years later I forgive him his small mind. He could not help being exactly like the other small town minds who fear others' success. I escaped carrollton before it could permanently limit me. You only need to know that the world welcomes your hard work and free thinking. You go girl! Eventually the people you surround yourself with will mirror you. Just be sure you like what you see.

Carrollton is full of good folks. They just don't show themselves as often as they could. If you've lived there you know the reasons, usually it is the desire to live peacefully with everyone. I could rant and rave about all the bad things that have happened to good people there, but that doesn't solve any problems, so I consider the good and move on. Being secure in your surroundings is a matter of how we conduct ourselves, if we show anger, we usually get anger in return, no matter where you live.

Carrollton,(and CHS) has always been a socially prejudiced community. Your chances of succeeding in that area are extremely limited unless you are one of the "prominent" families. Social bigotry is the norm. Carrollton is the redneck capital of the Midwest.Carrollton is a good place to be from A LONG WAY FROM if you get my meaning.

lots of large families have been raised in carrollton. but that is the problem, the large families have the name, and they run the town. if you have the name of JOE BOB STEVE, you dont have shit. i lived in carrollton for about 2 years and when my first child was born, i got while the gettin was good!! and i never looked back, i live in an awesome town now, the school sucks, but the residents in this town are very close nit, and watch each others back. we have no law enforcement her, but we dont need them either. that is what small town living is all about!!!!

Concerned Parent wrote: My perception of bullying at the Carrollton High School in Carrollton, Missouri is that it has gone on for decades according to some parents and Administration. They particularly bully anyone that is an "outsider". If you did not start school in Kindergarten with the rest of the student body, you are considered an "outsider". the biggest problem in Carrollton is the fact that it is a very non-confrontational community; and, therefore it is the one that tells about the bullying that they consider a "complainer". They get very frustrated with anyone who tells. The most widely popular consequence of bullying is to find some reason the bullied student deserved the bullying. It is a very big problem there. The second reason that it has gone on so long is that you have teacher's, staff, and school board members that all belong to the same families. If you are not distantly related to one or more members of this group, then you are free game for bullying. I have personally dealt with this issue, and I can assure you that going to the school with any issues regarding bullying, unless you are familialy related to someone at the school, you become a complainer, and then your children suffer even more from bullying because then the students have determined that it is alright to bully that particular student. The students bully an "outsider", watch to see what the consequences will be, and when action is not taken then that child becomes free game. It is a heartbreaking situation. got any more to say? looks like you wrote a childrens book.

How sad when a Jr. High cheerleading mom is whining about how the cheerleaders get picked. And we wonder why the kids behave the way they do!

Throughout history there have been many brilliant individuals ridiculed for wanting to make a positive change. In fact, I think that in every situation where change was made, freedom fought for, and fairness sought there have been naysayers that were afraid of someone wanting to make a difference in society and for mankind. I take it as a compliment, because I know the only people that are negative when someone else wants positive change are those that have benefitted from negative circumstances.

I heard about some of the stuff being said here and on the other cheerleading place. I used to own a business on teh square. I had to close it because of how the people treated us. That's why I think Fuller's is pulling out too. The town will go under soon, you watch. Look at all the surrounding areas. Have you ever bred dogs? I was a breeder way back, and I've seen it time and time again. You have a pack of dogs and they fight and get along both because they were raiused together as pups. You bring in a new dog, and they gang up and bit and attack the other dog and growl and pretty soon that dog won't even look at the other dogs out of fear. That dog stays by the gate, and won't even eat out of the same food bowl. That;s what we proud folks in Carrollton do to people. My business would have brought in taxes and betterment. But I had to move somepalce else so I didn't end up being as mean as the rest of the people there. My mom's still there all alone and nobody cares about her either and she used to babysit so many of those kids.

Parents think for one moment "I know my child is such an angel she couldnt hurt a fly", next moment when your gone you hear "your child did drinking, drugs, etc and she was with a several other teenagers. No adult was there" And you think thats just a lie and then find out later its true or their kid acts all cute and innocent to avoid the punishment.

How does one act when they "act like they are better" than someone else? What is it, specifically, that they do?
Just curious.

Ok, I just happened on this site by accident, but I've got to comment. I grew up in Carrollton, (and the Wakenda hills) went to school there, moved away and to this day, with children and grandchildren of my own, wish for the lazy days in good old Carrollton. I haven't been back, so in my memory it's still the same. You know your neighbors, your kids can get up on a saturday morning, go to the park, city pool, visit friends. Spend the whole day in the sunshine without a worry of some creep grabbing em. I feel lucky to have spent my childhood in Carrollton Missouri.

Interesting site. I came into Carrollton several years ago in the education system and spent a few years there. As a long time educator, I have never seen such a small minded group of individuals. It was very sad to me that these are the people entrusted with the future of the town because it completely ensures that this type of bigoted, inbred thinking is protected and passed on as the "right way".

It would seem that far more individuals have a "negative" opinion of Carrollton (and CHS) than those who voice a "positive" one. My class reunions come and go and I ignore them, knowing that the same little cliques will form up when the class assembles. Glad to be "from" Carrollton.
