Pay your bills on time and get a decent credit rating and you would not have these problems.
Next the taxpayers will be forced to bailing you out too.
Its people like you that are making this into a third world country.

This person is correct. Vanderbilt mortgage is every bit as bad as the "check cashing services" which ultimately charge up to 300% interest. Vanderbilt preys upon the lower educated and lower class to make their money. They also have collections people that are very unethical. They will scam the person into paying them some to quit harassing them, then turnaround and swear they never received it. Seen it multiple times. I am an advocate for the poor and oppressed, and time and again I hear these true stories. Shame on you Vanderbilt/Clayton. It's not an issue of not paying, it's about taking advantage of those who are vulnerable. The Vanderbilts would never have allowed their name to be associated with this hoodoo back in the day. Say what you want about their wealth, but they were at least mostly ethical.

When the people they prey upon cannot sell thier manufacture homes because they are upside down in them, they just get another fool to sign up for a loan on the same home.

I had a mortgage with them in the 90's. My wife and I divorced and she kept the home, for a few months. She didn't make any of the payments and then abandoned it. They came after me for the payments, but I was into another home by then and couldn't afford it so I just told them to forclose on it. They sold it at auction for about 20K less than I owed, but they didn't give me notice that they were going to sell it. My lawyer told me that they couldn't make me pay the rest back because they didn't follow the proper procedure for selling it. They harassed me for a few years, but never took me to court over it. The statute of limitations finally ran out and I haven't heard anything from them since.

I agree with all of the bad comments about vanderbuilt mortgage i have been paying on this home since 1996....the floors are falling in and every electrical socket is hanging out of the wall and just because i am late in december... they come up with the big idea i owe them like 330$ in late fees...ha what a joke!!!!!Very rude employees....some nosy bitches!!! ask me everything they could think of but when i ask them about there personal info they get pissed.I told them my kids dad passed away and they act like they didnt give a crap...no concern about nothing except upsetting me when i called in to make a 400 dollar payment......how rude!! I dont reccomend them to anyone. if you are smart you wont buy from them.....and they couldnt even sell this home for the pay-off its a piece of junk and if it wasnt for losing my dads property ....i would tell them to come get this junk...and rent a nice house!!!

Vanderbilt really needs to do an over haul with customer service. They are very unprofessional and unethical. In order for the company to be a success, they will have to
learn to treat people like people.

My wife and i bought a home in 1998 and originally financed through another company. VMF bought the contract in '05. We bought a house and are renting the trailer for what the payments are a month. About two years ago a payment didnt post and when i found out, i sent a copy of it to them. Of course the claim was it was never received, so it was sent again, this time with a witness. "It was never received" Certified, never received. This rocked on for almost two years and a lawsuit was filed for payments not received for at least three months. Those were produced, and come to find out they were posted to other accounts? Come on, the coupon was sent with the payment along with the acct # on the payment method. Of course "we were wrong" according to them. I also found that there is almost a $1000.00 difference in what they show as a balance than what I show, and of course they don't want to discuss that.

VMF sent a man by our home to take pictures. I came out of my bedroom early on morning to get my 7 year old son ready for school. He was at the front window taken pictures. There was no why my son was not in the shot. Let me begin my outrage by saying my son was in his under ware. I got the door to see who he is, but he just gets back into his car and drives off. My neighbor asks me if I talked to him and said no. She tells he has been by several times and asked about me. I find out from her that he is with VMF. I call that morning to complain about the picture. I talk to a lady named Jennifer and she actually laughed at me. "She said isn't funny how things seem to only happen to people when they are behind in their payments". I was only tens days late at this point. I called to warn them they might have child predator working for them. The Company respones was to laugh at me. Don't deal with VMF they are a ethical company.
