2003 Chevy Trailblazer-CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND REDUCED ENGINE POWER

I have a 2003 Chevy Trailblzer that has been nothing but problems. I just spent $1,253 on it with 3 differnt mechanics that can not fix the problem. The reduced engine power ligth comes on and I lose power. I have to pull over, put hazzards on and turn off car and re-start it. I can't even pull out of my driveway w/o this happening. Please help! I have been pulling over every trailblzer I see on the road and most have the same problem. I am ready to start a class action lawsuit. I replaced the gas pedal sensor, the camshaf sensor, throttle body unit, computer, fan clutch, fuel filter, mechanics have checked every wire and they still cannot fix. I have about 6 others phone numbers with the same problem. Any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated. If you are having these problems, please email me: [e-mail]. Our 2003 Trailblazer had some of the same problems. Fortunately, our mechanic goes the extra mile and found out that the computer was at fault for the problems. Without replacing the computer, other components would continue to fail. First, the gas pedal sensors failed (excessive split between sensors) and had to be replaced. Next, the fan clutch failed -- which is when he did an "above and beyond" diagnostic and found the computer failing. Now that the computer was replaced and reprogrammed, it drives great!
Apparently, there is a class action being done somewhere--does anyone know details on it?

My wife's 04 trailblazer had this problem. The sensors in the throttle body quit working properly. Replaced the throttle body and she runs like a champ now. The bad news is the price of the throttle body went up due to high demand. I live in SC and the closest place that had a factory part was in michigan. Glad we haven't had all of the other problems you have had, but I appreciate the heads up !

my 2003 trailblazer has a lot of the problems you guys trailblazers have had. I have replaced the fan clutch, water pump, serpatine belt, coolant sensor, and still i have a service engine light. and every time I take off, the RPM wind out, like I am climbing a really steep mountain. Talked to a mechanic, he said I probably need to put a GM clutch fan on my trailblazer, which is about 450.00. My wife and I just made our last payment on this rig and now all this starts happening, just my kinda luck.

Hello. I have a 2002 Trailblazer with 230,000 miles on it. I have read every forum I can find about the reduced engine power light, taken the truck to a few dealers and local mechanics, and replaced about everything all you guys have. The limp mode issue would not go away. So I finally let a back yard old school mechanic look at it and about 2 weeks later I have it back and it runs great. The limp mode is a fail safe to prevent engine damage (obviously)and the issue was the cat converter. It was majorly clogged which triggered the check engine light to come on as well. I cut mine out and put straight pipe as I don't need emissions. Reset the computer and it has not given any more issues. Something for you guys to try too

I had a lot issues with my truck overheating, however w the light turning on I had to change the catalytic converter and if u are under mileage and u are the first owner the dealer will change this part for free.

I have a 03 trailblazer and it done this to me yesterday I have not replaced anything bc they have told me nothing is wrong. The light went off after I restarted it and ran fine. When the ligjt came on I had the gas to the floor and it barely done 47. I know something is wrong but they insist nothing is wrong aby help?

I have had the issue with the engine light for some time now. Tonight I am helping with a big fundraiser for our FFA and went to go home so I could be back by 6:00 a.m. and it won't start. It is a 2002 with 184000 miles on it and now the Reduced Power Light just came on... The catlytic converter was changed a few months ago & the check engine light came on again about a month after that... Praying I won't be spending an arm & leg so I can drive this thing again.

have an 03 trailblazer with 223000 miles. Engine light on. Code says vacuum leak. As truck starts uphill, I get a tremendous loss of power. Any ideas????

My 03 trailblazer is have all the problems listed but the major problem I can't figure out is when I get above 40 mph it starts to bog out and drops down to below 40 I have to stop turn it off an on to get going again I live 30 mins from work and it takes me 1 1/2 hrs to get there and to get home each way also its going through gas like crazy help!! I have a 2003 trailblazer with 217,000 miles. It also cuts out and says reduced engine power. It's very aggravating cause you have to pull off and restart the truck. The Chevy place cleaned the throttle admit didn't fix it. Now they want to replace the throttle which is about 500 dollars. I am very interested in the law suit. Please email me some information. Can you let me know if you got in contact with that class action lawsuit. I have the same vehicle as you do have the same problems. i took my trailblazer in for a tune up only to find out that when i left the shop my check engine goes on my reduced engine power light goes on, my mechanic tells me need to change my 02 sensor, my fuel is to rich, it could be my fan clucth. i just call a dealership there telling me bring it in we can fix it wonder what this is going to cost.

check all rubber hoses for pin holes. Getting too much air
