Are you as frustrated as I am by the fact that Trader Joe's won't open a store in Visalia? The company has snubbed their noses at this area for at least 15 years.

I think it will be big in Visalia if they open a Trader Joe's especially how much Visalia has grown in the last 3 yrs.....

The company has stated that there are not enough yuppies in this area to support a Trader Joe's, but I don't see their store as a yuppie store anyway. To me, it's just a small unique grocery store with low prices on what is usually organic or at least healthier items. I talk to a lot of people that would shop at a Trader Joe's here and people want them here.

We do need a store here. We may be poor, but we care about our health. I am no yuppie, and I do bathe, and I still care about eating organic and/or healthier foods.

I heard that there is ANOTHER Trader Joe's going up in Tempelton at the coast! That would make 4 Trader Joes in a stretch of 40 miles, from Paso Robles to Arroyo Grande. I didn't know the '5 cities' area had a population of 2 million people...

I have information from some real estate people that i know in the area that Trader Joe's has paid some attention to the visalia market. However, it appears that in Visalia and the other surrounding cities, the lack of people with college degrees is apparently what makes them change their mind. If the issue about college degrees is true, i find it to be a completly irrational process in where to decide to place a store. I suppose the only logic we can pull from it is that they believe only college educated people are smart enough to save money?

I would love a Trader Joe's in Visalia!! It would be my main source for groceries, and I could finally stop driving 45 miles to Fresno for groceries. I think everyone (college educated or not) desires healthy, reasonable food.

Let me put it in easy terms. A person could bet the farm on the fact that a Trader Joe's in Visalia, California would be B-U-S-Y, BUSY!!!!

maybe if everyone would stop shopping in fresno they might notice the differance and then understand the need. as long as all you shop there then they have no reason to go to you, you are going to them. win win for them.

Trader Joe's awareness, especially of the socioeconomic demographic in that region California, was most likely stumped because of the lack of business and progress due to the housing market crash. It's possible that TJ had their team conduct case studies, and check community statistics to see if TJ would prove a viable source for Visalia.

Furthermore, since TJ carries a variety of fare from throughout the world, the question is, would the community at large purchase their products. A lot has to do with socioeconomics, many people omit this.

I hardly believe that anything has to do with astutely, "lack of education or degrees." When it comes down to it, it's based, generally on the basis of, "would it prove viable for TJ and the surrounding community of Visalia, and subcommunities." Food for thought.

Trader Joe's in Visalia would be ideal for the health cautious here! It provides reasonable prices and organic food, which would be amazing because Visalia is very limited in health food stores.

Recent rumors surfacing again about TJ interest in Visalia again. Heard a restaurant health inspector has inside info that TJ is taking a serious look to be an anchor store in the old Borders book store. Don't know if it's true; but I've already sent a couple emails to TJ, without any sort of response

also, forgot the old Circuit City would be another great location idea with probably the right size TJ needs. C'mon, everyone else send TJ your suggestions.

I don't think it's TJ that doesn't want to open a store here at all. It's the city of Visalia that won't allow it.
