I agree with you citizen. The officers need to start doing what they are paid for and most do but they could do better. There are way to many paroles here in this tow and they know that nothing will happen to them basically. No one comes out here to check on them and they can steal, do drugs and not get in trouble. That is why we could use a police department except it would be controll by locals and would perobaly be worse. Keep up the good work sheriffs and please do all you can to get the prison [population out of town. Stop the shootings and drunk drivers.

Your right Mimi, the system is just not working for us right now. These offenders probably only got a slap on the wrist and were released.

WHAT HAS YOUR PORK REAR DONE FOR THIS CITY? PLEASE DON'T TRY AND INSULT THE COMMUNITY WITH YOUR IGNORANCE" ONE POLICE OFFICER?I SEE PLENTY OF POLICING IN THIS CITY SHERIFF, MAGIC NEIGHBORING POLICE DEPTS.GET WITH THE PROGRAM DON'T YOU SEE THAT IT'S NOT ANY ONE POLICE DEPARTMENT THATS GONNA COME INTO PLACE AND STOP ALL CRIME GRAFFITI AND WHAT NOT. A POLICE DEPARTMENT IS NOT GOING TO SOLVE ANYTHING. AND YES IF THE CITY CAN FUND ITS OWN POLICE DEPARTMENT WITHOUT ANY TAX BASE WELL I SAY GO FOR IT. BUT NOT WHEN THE TAX PAYERS ARE GOING TO BE HIT WITH IT.JAILS AND PRISONS CANT KEEP A JAILED INMATES FROM CRIME SO DON'T THINK THIS IS THE ANSWERS TO ALL OUR PROBLEMS"PEOPLE IT TAKES A COMMUNITY TO WORK TOGETHER AND IF WE CAN ADD TWO MORE SHERIFFS ON THE CLOCK WHY NOT?PEOPLE WANT THERE OWN P.D AND THINK WELL THE POLICE WILL GET TO KNOW WHO I AM AND THEY WON'T BOTHER ME ANYMORE I HEARD SOMEONE MAKE THAT COMMENT.WOW THE THINKING OF SOME PEOPLE.REEDLY HAS A P.D
http://www.topix.com/city/reedley-ca/2009/04/...
AND YOU GET SHOOTINGS GRAFFITI MUCH MORE THAN ORANGE COVE SO REALLY THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK OR MAKE JUDGEMENT.KEEP IN MIND WE ALL LIVE HERE.AND YES EVERY LIFE IS IMPORTANT BUT WHEN PEOPLE SPEAK WITH NO INTELLIGENCE WE ALL SUFFER AND WE DO HAVE PROTECTION.SO WITH THAT CONCERNED OLD MAN(THOMPSON)WE ALL WANT A NEW CAR A NEW HOUSE TO TAKE A TRIP TO EUROPE BUT IF YOU AINT GOT THE MEANS TO DO IT IT'S JUST LIKE ANYTHING ELSE.AS ALWAYS IT'S JUST ONE MANS OPINION ONE MANS OBSERVATION.I'LL LEAVE WITH A CLIP NOT ALL POLICE ABIDE BY THE LAW.

I am a citizen of Orange Cove, have lived here many many years.I've seen many changes over the years. I also would love to have our own police dept. But we live on a fixed income, we own our own home. and if we property owners are going to be taxed for this police dept. Its going to be very difficult for my wife and I. Reedley has their own police dept and boy do they have their share of problems. We sometimes shop at Town & Country and that seems to be the hang out for the gang members! Where was the police in Reedley when those young boys were murdered? That just goes to show you, things will happen with or without a police dept. You want to talk about graffiti well cities that have their own police depts. Have all that to.

We raised our children and we done a good job. But we had to show them lots of love and morals and values, remember it all starts at home. Maybe if parents now days wouldn’t depend on the schools to raise their young ones.

Not all adults are good, not all adults are bad.

OCM - post the link starring Victor Lopez, Jr, David Lopez, and Victor Lopez, III ... and the BMX rider at the Orange Cove BMX park.

After viewing the video, the City Attorney stated that it was grounds for cancelling the INDEPENDENT CONTRACTORS AGREEMENT with Victor Lopez, Jr., which in turn ends the Security careers for any others involved in “Security of…” for any facility in the City of Orange Cove. Paragraph 7 and paragraph 2 (b.) of the AGREEMENT.

That way ALL of the PUBLIC can decide if his (Jr.) pathetic explanation at the Apr 22 City Council meeting is valid, or, just another cover-up for depraved behavior.

first of all crime can never be completely wiped out, I mean officers do need a job right, but it can be controlled. I see sheriffs in Orange Cove who don't always seem as if they are doing their job, instead they are conversing wth other sheriffs. What we need is stricter law enforcement. Not all the people in Orange Cove are criminals theres just a counted number of them that are the cause of most of the chaos, so maybe we need to keep a closer eye on those people.

I also want to add that Victor Lopez has done a lot for Orange Cove, but maybe its time for a change. I wouldn't want this to turn into a dictatorship.
