You are so ignorant! Continue to judge others and know nothing about their lives! People like you disgust me! Do you even have children? You are no better than anyone else because you are commenting on Topix putting others down. Like I said, thank you for your OPINION! Hope you never fall on hard times, because the way you are talking, you seem to think you are exempt from this thing called LIFE!
people like us prepare for life changing events. how do we do that? low debt, and simple living! the days of posting from an iphone bitching about the end of your government benefits are over! life sucks, and i suggest you prepare for further cuts, and be self sufficient!

<quoted text> hi mandy! i have fell on hard times, but never took a dime of government money. i worked more, and more and more. i didnt have the safety blanket of parents watching my children either(they both work out of town). i learned at an early age to rely on myself to get my goals accomplished. this is the best learned lesson i have taught myself, and it is not hatefull to pass it on to others.
if you want,i can describe the story of my life in great detail,or i can just tell you that you have the good stuff inside you to survive like i did,and take my word on it? the working poor never needed assistance from anybody! i have more faith in this group of people than i do any other people of better economic background. why? they have learned tenacity! you could try to bend them, break them, but you cant. they are like a rubberband and bounce back! upper middle class people will suffer when it comes to doing without(and its coming shortly). they never understood poverty, except by viewing it like we view animals at a zoo! in the future they will get there chance to understand, and remember every word i say!
I don't receive help for child care as my husband watches our baby while he tries to find a job. Its hard to get second job when you can't get even one. He has put in many applications & resumes, but nothing that is viable job has happened yet. Sure he could drive to Louisville, but by the time we paid for child care & gas, we wouldn't be any better off. I just started getting WIC & I didn't want to but I'll swallow my pride for my baby. I know some people abuse the system, but some use it as hand up to get through rough patch. As soon as my husband gets hired somewhere, I will stop getting WIC.

Okay, first of all, I do not own an Iphone. Second, the ONLY assistance my HUSBAND and I receive is help with childcare. We still pay 300 a month for childcare, they just pay the rest. We pay for EVERYTHING ELSE WE NEED. I got a job to help pay for expenses going back and forth to UofL to get my NURSING DEGREE. Before I enrolled I stayed home and we got NO ASSISTANCE FOR ANYTHING!! We are definitely preparing! We cannot afford to move to Louisville right now, so I drive 4 days a week and work! He also works, therefore we need daycare! No, we do not have an Iphone or expensive vehicles. We own both cars! Don't judge and assume!

did you read the entire thread? i said it was cruel to take away four'cs at this point, and advocated for it to stay in place, but with time limits,so you dont judge or assume! if you dont have an iphone,i wasnt talking to you!
im not against 4 c's, but i am preparing you for a life without any government assistance, simply because its coming.

no need to be ashamed for getting a hand up,that is what this safety net was intended for. if this is what your situation is....im proud that my tax dollars gave you a hand up!

How are we not supporting ourselves just because we pay
$307.27 (EXACTLY) of the $485 we are charged per month in childcare? We pay taxes too! As you can see from the numbers I just posted they dont even pay half! We work with our bare hands too! How else would I perform my duties as a LPN?

If you can't get a job then there is something wrong with you. Actually I'll go out today and submit my resume to a few random places even though I have no intention of working anywhere else. I guarantee I will get calls back this week asking me to work.
I have job. My husband us the one looking. You don't read very well at all for someone supposedly who is intelligent. I have hard time thinking you would ve able to get any job with an attitude like your's. Mu husband was making over $2000 a month when I was pregnant & then was let go because the business wasn't making lot of money. We were fine until then, but bills still had to ve paid & then I got put on bedrest & that ate through our savions.

one thing that would help when it comes to government assistance is making people accountable for what they do with their benefits. some may say its no ones business. well yes it is when your getting help from the gov. they can fix it where they can monitor what is being done with the assistance. people should have to produce receits for what they are buying..especially ebt. and if they aren't buying FOOD.. they need to lose them. people need to be drug tested and lose benefits if on illegal drugs. the state needs to be checking that parents aren't just dropping kids off at daycare and going home while 3cs is paying for it. ( I know a situation going on like that right now) and im sure plenty do that. if they pay attention and require receits and explanations for where and what benefits are being used for then a lot of non deserving people would lose theirs so the people who really did need it would not be in danger of losing theirs.

I didn't mate, I married him. I'd much rather be with someone who loves me than some rich arrogant person like you. You really don't even read all of the comment anyway. I said he had job making really good money while I was pregnant, but now the business is gone. The economy is bad & jobs are hard to find. At last I married for love while your wife probably married you for money.

So what should people do who had kids when they could afford them, but then fall on hard times? Give them up for adoption?
Very nice point, our economy has been through difficult times alot of people were laid off from their jobs. Since everyone is quick to be judgemental I would love to hear this

$100 per week per kid partly due to the government assistance. The government assisting you causes the daycare to raise their rates to the limit of what assistance will cover driving up the costs for people who don't want or get no assistance.
It's $125 per week and plus $20 on weekends. So no, it's not just $100 and they've raised their rates due to having to use that money to pay their employees and their rent and other facility needs, so no they haven't raised their prices due to people taking assistance. That's just something you assumed. There is so much you seem to know so little of.

He could get a job tomorrow if he wanted one. It might not be the one that he wants but he could get one. Also if he were truely valuable to the company that he got laid off from he wouldn't have been laid off in the first place. The economy is bad? I make twice as much as I did prior to the recession.
Yeah He could get a job probably making close to minimum wage, but then we would need help to pay for child care. His old job is now out of business so it wasn't that he wasn't valuable. They lowered people's salary across the board & then got rid of a lot of people until they eventually closed. He had another job, but had to pass as he was going to have to go out of the country & I ended up with complications with my pregnancy so naturally he didn't want to leave me in case something happened. You sound like you are lying as you sure like to brag way too much. Must ve over compensating for something. Little Man syndrome is my guess.

Sorry I'm not some country loser that drives some big pickup truck.
No I am a city loser that drives a pickup. And claiming that electric and natural gas has basically been the same, my friend I spend $1300 a month on electric alone, and I pay my employees well more than minimum wage, because I believe in paying more for someone who will do great work than paying someone minimum wage to just show up for a paycheck. If you want to blame anybody for daycare rates being high blame the government, because the government takes a huge portion. I pay an average of $4000 a month for employee taxes, and average of $10,000 a quarter for federal and state taxes, and still owe $30,000 at the end of the year. The government is the reasons that daycare rates are so high. So before you assume anything that you think you might know something of you might want to do some research. With all these taxes the $11,000 a month for payroll and $6,000 I spend on food alone, and all my other bills that I have to pay to keep my business up I make nothing. I am in this business to help families by cutting them deals. The average a person pays at my daycare is $80 a week. Because I know how hard it is for a working family to make it in todays economy. I do not do this to try to get rich quick. I do it too help people.

My husband doesn't drive a pick up so you are wrong again. My husband is also far from a loser. We may not have much material wise, but we have love & are instilling values in our children. You can have all the material possesions you want, but they won't help you in the hereafter.

What you have nothing too down me on you continue your crap with a woman and her husband that thrive in a broken economy and do everything to better themselves, yet you sit on here and judge them, if only we could be half the person you are, wow I am jealous of you I only get too daydream on being someone like you. You think you know of what you say but you only try your damnest to make crap sound intelligent. Mandy and her family are hard working people who only want to better their lives. God bless you and your halfass opinion.
