So, are you outraged that corporations can give $80 million to party with politicians at their conventions, and then turn around and deduct half of that from their taxes? Yes, I agree that those kinds of deductions should be ended to increase government revenue (instead of cutting more services). Is that the question?
no not at all, i dont really mind it,but dont you think there is some hypocrisy if you go back to the democratic convention talking points? not to mention, duke energy is a company that people dont have much of a choice if they want to patronize.(unless you choose to do that amish thing).

Still not sure. Corps gave about 40M to the DNC convention in Charlotte, and they gave about 40M for the RNC convention in Tampa. Progress Energy of FL, which is now part of Duke, gave to the RNC to host that event. Duke offered the same thing to the RNC to have their convention in Charlotte in 2004. So you think the City of Charlotte should have paid for the whole DNC event because the DNC speeches were pro-government? Does that mean the RNC donors shouldn't have been able to deduct half the expense off their taxes because their speeches were anti-government? I think you might have selected outrage here because you're a red-team cheerleader. I say that if either team wants to hold a party they should sell tickets to attendees, not let the lobbyists or taxpayers pay their way.

Who are you guys? You willing to cut these tax loopholes?$80M would pay for a lot of Fort Knox workers, or buy a lot of WIC baby formula, whichever one you prioritize as "worthy" of it. Write your buddy Rand and tell him to stop shortchanging Hardin County by giving Duke Energy BS tax breaks, then.

Your invested money isn't taxed any more than the money you have in the bank or mattress is. If you make income off that money, that income is taxed...at a much lower rate than had you worked for it. If that money loses money, you get a tax credit for that loss. There is nothing magical about dividend or capital gains income that warrants it being taxed at half the rate of labor income...other than investors have better lobbyists than laborers.
There is a different tax rate for INTEREST INCOME and Capital Gains which is the higher of the two.

Exactly. Interest income is taxed at the same rate as labor income. Only investment income gets taxed at the lower level. Hell, even your Social Security and retirement income gets taxed (in some cases). It's time for the investor class to chip in and give everyone else a break. Corporations are not "people" so they don't pay the taxes for their investors anymore than they pay the taxes for their laborers or retirees.

Oh, never mind, Rand will be too busy filibustering on the Senate floor over the next couple days to read your letter. SMH at what we sent to Washington to represent us.

its a 2% cut,i wonder if we can find 2% of government waste before we take away "baby formula". lol, how many federal government workers are on the payroll? didnt obama just give them a pay raise to federal employees via executive order? i wonder how much baby formula that would buy? dont try to flip sides on me now sunshine....we are making topix progress!

thats the point, that "the point" leaves out,and he always leaves out points. if i saved up 10,000 dollars as a blue collar worker, and decided to invest my money(keep in mind,my savings have already been taxed thru payroll tax), it gets retaxed AGAIN if i make a profit, and that tax is a little lower than the first.

You're a little late to the party, aren't you? Where were you in 2001 when John Yoo and Gonzales said the same thing as Holder did? Ron Paul was there (along with many Democrats) trying to overturn the legislation that has allowed this to happen. Rand Paul is just talking about in front of cameras to raise his political profile and score points against the current President who had nothing to do with it. Note to Rand: you're a Senator, so you can introduce legislation to protect our rights. The President and AG can only do what the legislatures allow them to do. Rand, save your speeches for McCain, Graham and McConnell if you really care about the issue. Yes, Brennan is a real thug...and Obama knows that only a neocon like him could pass confirmation. Other words, Cracker, it's your team that gave the President these powers when "your guy" was there, so why are you applauding Rand for simply complaining about it instead of doing something about it? What difference does it make if a drone kills you versus a fighter jet or solider with a pistol?

Yeah, so you think everyone who works at Fort Knox, and all the people whose livelihoods depend on them, are government moochers. Only your truck driving job is important. We get that...that's why we ignore you, despite your constant trolling.

Then why do you support this Rand idiot trying to pretend like Obama or Holder are somehow responsible for this? "Obama is shredding the Constitution" I believe is what he said. He asked Holder what authority the President has (knowing what the answer was, because everyone knows what the answer is), and then acts like Holder made it up when he answered. Then he says he wants the President to create a "document" that outlines when the military won't kill you...what other President ever had such a document? Maybe, just maybe, Rand could spend some time working on those lost Fort Knox jobs instead of running for President of his own imaginary world.

The Hardin County economy is about to lose $70M, our Senator just gave a 13-hour campaign speech about getting killed in a cafe by government robots, and you think that's great. And I'm the idiot.

why do you keep bringing up the fact that i drive a truck for a living. its almost like i should be ashamed of myself because thats what i do. perhaps you are offended with yourself because you spend so much of your time arguing with such a bottom feeder? idk? its kind of insulting to any blue collar working person if i read what you write. are you for the "working poor" or do you think we are all idoits that need your pseudo education?
can i peak for all of us and say.......we dont need you or your instruction, WORKING PEOPLE CAN FUNCTION FINE ON THEIR OWN!
find a charity, and put your energy into them, working people dont need you or your opinion!
