Some Kentucky churches pull support from Boy Scouts; no decisions in Lexington

Jun 5, 2013 Full story: Lexington Herald-Leader 1,114

At least three churches in central Kentucky - including one of the state's biggest churches - have said they are cutting ties with the Boy Scouts of America following the organization's decision last month to allow gay scouts.

People of faith. People who use reason. People who don't use the Bible as a weapon to control everyone else's lives. People who want thew laws followed that we all voted on and agree to follow.

In other words, people with class.

Well said sir.
Thank you. I've read the Bible. No matter how much absolute certainty you have in the correctness of your chosen path through His teachings, God decides, not you. It doesn't matter how much someone thinks God approves or disapproves of their choices, it's not their judgment to make.

Christ decides who has accepted Him, not His Christians. Your job is to spread the Gospel and live it, His is to decide who gets it right.

No, legalism is NOT the issue. The GOSPEL of Jesus Christ is what matters. That involves repentance from a lifestyle which God considers sinful. These others who are pulling out scripture (when they are not even going to church probably to worship) trying to justify is futile. Either you have accepted Christ as your Savior and follow through with having a relationship with Him or you haven't.
I understand what you are saying ,but if the church excluded people who sin, then every seat would be empty.
all im saying is why pick one particular sin ,and run with it?
you might say, "well its a continual state of sin". well most sins are! all people struggle with a habitual sin, especially born again believers. I have watched pastors throughout my life struggle with the same continual sin. don't get me wrong, I do believe in deliverance. paul himself had a 'thorn in the flesh" ,and it kept him humble although he was a mighty man of God.
I am not condoning anything, but pointing out everything!

I detest the churches legalism, but I feel the same about relativism ,but only God himself is the quantifier between
both...., that comes with a growing relationship with him.
DNF: I'm pretty sure I misjudged you now. I am very sorry for my nastiness to you. I had you confused with a different crowd.
I pray I don't make the same mistake again with you or anyone else. Thanks for a well deserved lesson I needed.
thank you. I am not against anyone.

Gods plan is simple and anyone with a conscious follows it not great as we all make mistakes but if we treat others as we would like to be treated, are honest, have a good work ethic and are loyal we are walking in the right direction. My purpose on this earth is to be of maximum service to God and to others. I don't take my beliefs and say mine are better because that's not the issue. We cant know joy until we experience sorrow, we cant know love until we experience hate its finding your balance in this world and just in general don't be a jerk. It is easier said than done but if we are willing and try then life seems to be not so hard. When we realize we truly have no control we can surrender our self imposed shackles and be free. With every action there is an equal and opposite reaction, be responsible for your actions, life is a gift and most people take it for granted we are not entitled to a thing.

My point of view is just that, my point of view. From my reading of the Bible, the instructions are fairly simple, do the right thing and do the right thing unto others. God decides who gets it right, not His Christians. No matter how absolutely certain you are in the rightness of your path, it still isn't your call to make.

NOPE. Our righteousness is but filthy rags. If 'being good' is the basis, we are out of luck. ONE MORE TIME: It's NOT what we can do to deserve going to heaven, but rather what HE did on the cross. I am sorry, but you are trying to put works and the attempt to be perfect in the picture. NOPE. For some who are clearly living in a state of sin, they are SO uninformed of what the gospel is about. To be so outspoken (Joanna and some of the rest of you), you are totally lost and without Christ.
