Finding out your family doctor has a conviction for child porn, violence or drug trafficking would probably make most people think twice about being treated by them.

But thousands of patients are being kept in the dark about disgraced medics who are allowed to practise despite criminal records that would ban them from other jobs.

Those who have been convicted of possessing child sex images are even believed to be free to treat kids.

There are nearly 1,000 physicians, surgeons and GPs with criminal records.

But even those with the most serious have still kept hold of their posts.

The revelations will come as a shock to the millions of people who put their trust in doctors, many of whom are vulnerable or at a low ebb and have complete faith in the person treating them.

And campaign groups last night called on the General Medical Council, the body that licences practitioners, to tell patients if their doctors are perverts, pushers or thugs.

Roger Goss of Patient Concern said:“Patients should be made aware if their doctor is found guilty of serious criminal offences that could affect their care and be allowed to make up their own minds if they want to risk being treated by them.

“The GMC should be open and transparent in these matters but time and time again they have failed in this respect.

"The problem is that the GMC is funded by doctors while their prime duty is to protect patients but these two things often come into conflict.”

Official figures reveal there are 927 doctors and surgeons with a criminal record, some with more than one offence to their name.

None of the patients they treat have been informed.

A Mirror investigation discovered 25 have convictions for actual bodily harm and three for grievous bodily harm.

Three sick male medics were caught in possession of indecent images of children, two found guilty of causing death by dangerous driving and two of trafficking drugs.

Two have convictions for cruelty to children, nine for attacking their partners, five for harassment and two for possessing offensive weapons.

One made threats to kill, another has a conviction for perverting justice, one for perjury and five were guilty of fraud.

Eight male doctors have records for kerb crawling, 24 for forgery and 11 for theft offences.

The shocking statistics were revealed by the GMC in response to a Freedom of Information request.

Labour MP Grahame Morris, who sits on the Health Select Committee, said:“This is an issue of considerable public unease and the Mirror is quite right to reflect these concerns.”

Medical chiefs claim they cannot ban all offenders because it could breach their human rights.

Are u really complaining about other doctors who have to get up in the middle of the night to come in to deliver a baby and take care of a baby that needs urgent care. Maybe u should park in the other lot because you do work shifts and we are in and out. You really have no professionalism since you call us lazy! You apparently have no idea of what we do!

please don't group all docs together. There are more than hundred thousands of us and you are generalizing all of us to the less than 1% of doctors who have problems. Btw some doctors like myself who work 60-70 hours a week don't drive ferrari's and have our kids in private school. We work hard so the government can take my money so your lazy ass have benefits and a cell phone. Btw you don't even sound like you are from this country because everything you post are from some other country! Also if I can afford a Ferrari is that because I worked hard to obtained it. But for right now I will drive a measly Lexus so STFU!

Really. While male doctors take advantage of people that do not know their rights when doing pelvic examinations, I will keep posting. The ethics of cross gender exams without choice being
offered is degrading for women, often duped into the belief male doctors do not get aroused lol....
Years of brainwashing by medics, friends family and the media, all portraying it as being a normal procedure, nothing to it, a male doctor doesn't get his testosterone flowing lol lol lol.

News I have hundreds of cases to back my beliefs.....

BTW a doctor that gets up in the night is given a life of luxury, put a doctor on mimimum pay then complain.

Palerider. I guess you Just sit around all day googling doctors that does inappropriate stuff. It sounds like you don't really care for doctors since you know all of them, how they live, what school their kids go to, and what they drive. You don't really care for doctors at all, but I bet you if you get a cold or some pain, you would want to see them. Please don't come and see us! I would rather that you die at home, because if you are ever in need of emergency care, and I know you, I would touch you with a ten foot pole, because if I saved your ass, you would sue me for my Ferrari!

PS googling male doctors for sex abuse, you hit the nail on head, the key word being men in court, very few females doctors are at it.

IMO you need to ask yourself question why, answer it is natural for a man to get turned on by the female body, visual touch and scent.

As posted before emergencies accepted, but for general every day visits, bad ethics IMHO.
You know exactly what I
refer to,so why argue with reality.

Er.doctors are great, but I agree that only females should do intimate procedures, you can't expect everyone to be ok with male gyno, I'm surprised there hasn't been a bigger uproar about it before now

jinkies I agree, the only explaination is, some women are braiwashed into the belief these guys do not get aroused, by visual touch and scent.... The ethics are totally wrong in doing cross gender genetal examination using KY and fingers imho..

Luckily, there was a temporary solution for hysteria (hysteria was a chronic disease so it could never be fully cured.) The woman suffering from hysteria would go to the doctor for a ‘pelvic massage to the point of hysterical paroxysm orgasm.’ The doctors thought this to be a very tedious task indeed, and due to this, the first vibrators were invented: around 1870 the first ones were in use by physicians.

Women considered to be suffering from hysteria exhibited a wide array of symptoms, including faintness, insomnia, fluid retention, heaviness in abdomen, muscle spasm, shortness of breath, irritability, loss of appetite for food or sex, and “a tendency to cause trouble”. The history of this diagnosis is obviously controversial because of the wide range of bizarre symptoms and causes, but the case gets more shocking when you look at the treatment. During this time, female hysteria was widely associated with sexual dissatisfaction. For this reason, the patients would undergo weekly “pelvic massages.” During these sessions, a doctor would manually stimulate the female’s genitals, until the patient experienced repeated “hysterical paroxysm”(orgasms). It is interesting to note that this diagnosis was quite profitable for physicians, since the patients were at no risk of death, but needed constant care. Pelvic massages were used as a medical treatment on women into the 1900s. Till 1950 I believe,

Patient filmed undressing by GP has 'lost all faith in NHS'
A patient who was filmed getting undressed by her GP using a hidden camera has said she has "lost all faith in the NHS".

02 Apr 2013
The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said she feels "violated" after she fell victim to Dr Davinderjit Bains, who secretly filmed her with a camera on his James Bond-style wristwatch.

The patient, one of more than 100 women covertly filmed by the doctor who is currently facing jail after abusing his position as a GP, was captured on camera at a medical practice in Royal Wootton Bassett, Wiltshire.

"I'm sad to admit it but I have lost faith in the NHS," said the woman. "I now have problems with trusting people and remain very angry at being put in that situation completely oblivious to what was actually going on."

The victim, in her early 30s, first learnt about the hidden camera when she was asked by police to attend the station. She was shown a still-shot taken from the video footage of her getting undressed at the surgery.

"My first reaction was complete shock and I asked them where they got the photo from," she said.
