The Executive has (or had) a great dining area. And the annual Homecoming weekend has been a great event in Vincennes for many long years. With the open inside balconies overlooking the dining area and everybody being able to see each other at the other levels was great. Many an old friend was able to reunite instead of passing like two ships in the night. Many of the graduating classes rented their own rooms so the alumni knew where to go and revisit with old friends. No other hotel in Vincennes is designed this way. I'm afraid the annual Vincennes Homecoming weekend will suffer due to the Executive Inns closing. I hope it can be refurbished.

I worked at the Executive when it was in it's hey day and then again before it sold the last two times. It would cost way more money than anyone is willing to spend to bring it back to it's once glorious state. It's a shame it was let go for so long, now the best thing would be tear it down and rebuild from ground up.

You've got to be kidding. Do you think those balconies were designed to hold all that weight? Those balconies were chock full of people, so thick you could hardly walk through. Right on top of each other. Besides the potential for collapse, do you honestly think that wasn't a violation of fire code? I went one time, and that was more than enough for me.

Are you sure it wasn't just you up on the balcony, and it could barely hold your weight. And any way if you are a mother, like you could be doing your housework or cooking a nice meal for your husband and kids,or helping your children with homework, or just spending quality
time with your family, i think you are neglectful, and need to get off the internet and pay attention to what matters in life, you obviously have problems.

I feel sorry for your two dogs. Must be horrible to have such a clueless jackass of an owner.

MarriedMotherOfT wo...I'm not an engineer. Are you? I suspect since the balcony area of the executive did hold all of those people for all of those years without incident I'll put my money on it is was to handle all of those people. Please. a little common sense would be in order here.

MarriedMotherOfT wo...are you a Fireman? What are the fire codes since you seem to be a professional firefighter? Wait a minute...I could have swore I saw many different firefighters standing amongst the crowd on the balconies at the Executive Inn during Homecoming. Again, Please use a little common sense. Sometimes it is better to remain silent and let everyone wonder whether you are stupid or not than to open your mouth and prove it beyond any doubt.

I,like many others, worked at the Exec. back in 1988-89. The place was falling apart then. There were dish tubs in the ceiling tiles to catch water when it rained. There was mold, and electrical problems everywhere. I was in the place after the current owners started working on it and I have to say that I would not feel safe staying in that place.
The old kitchen is totally unusable and barely safe to walk through. There is mold growing on the walls in public areas; I would guess from years of the roof leaking. The electrical is a mess throughout. I still saw some of the beauty the hotel used to possess but it was far from fit for human occupancy. I truly sympathize with the situation of the current owners. They bit off a bit more than they expected when they purchased the property. I do think that the current and past city administrations should have been helpful in restoring the property to it's former grandeur. We offer tax incentives, low interest loans, and grants for local businesses to expand and upgrade their facilities, yet none of this was pursued in this case. Maybe it was due to lack of communication or a desire to see the building finally torn down. Whatever the case, I doubt the current owners possess the knowledge or financial resources to restore the building to a usable state. They should either sell it or tear it down and hopefully sell the land to a developer since a lot of money is being spent on developing that end of town.

I am from chicago some investors I know went to VU . They are in talks(behind closed doors) to buy it and then tear it down. They are then going to open a strip club, as well as some big name resturants.

i think the issue of which way cause-and-effect works with whores and drugs warrants a thread of its own, in which anyone with or without a mind can speculate. Handy thing, in Vin City, is that all one has to do is say something, and it might as well be true.

I worked at the Exec under two different owners. Was nice hotel when Mr. Green owned it and had lots of business men that stayed and dining room open. It's a dump now not a safe spot in the hotel it needs to be torn down then rebuilt to its former glory. Would provide lots of jobs for locals and give travelers nice place to stay.Several people tried to buy it last time it was for sale wanted to make a strip club in it. So NOT what Knox County needs. vincennes is getting a rep as the Meth capital trash town of Indiana . Would be nice to see something good here again
