I really think Solo Vino is just an IDIOT. I mean come on seriously you get off topic like crazy, what’s with all the welfare jokes and guisando huevos remarks. American Voter is right the Vela’s have helped the community, people out there seem to believe nothing is being done, but honestly we have a city park, there’s a toy drive every Christmas, and so much more. Ok fine, vote for that other guy and I guarantee that there will be new projects popping up like crazy. Unfortunately they will all be in his Mexican town with OUR money and not in Progreso. The reality of it is that there are some people who will never be satisfied EVER. hay muchas personas que no agradecen lo que los velas an hecho por progreso tanto como en la comunidad y en distrito escolar. solo por ser del partido contrario hablan por hablar. progreso nunca tuvo cambio hasta que los vela's llegaron al mamdo de progreso. por ellos hay cambios en las colonias y nuevas escuelas. cuando yo llegue a progreso todas las calles eran de caliche el autobus de la escuela se quedaba atascado en cualquier charco. si no an vivido tantos anos como otras personas no saben ni siquiera como era progreso. todavia muchas personas viven de estampillas y del cheque del govierno pero viven agusto no como otros que roban y estafan. I am going to be honest and say I have not kept up with the Elections of the city I live in. Consequently due to the violence, bribs, and enemies that one can easily make by just mentioning a running elect or inquiring on city regulations. However, as a working, citizen and tax payer, not on any forms of welfare (just want to clear that up)there are certain things that I have seen and experienced that could be organized and regulated better. What the city desperately needs is an educated individual who can get people to work unselfishly with ALL of the community in creating an All American city for our children and schools. The people of Progreso are too busy complaining and not acting positively. Do your research, find a better way, make a proposal to the city, and work together at enforcing what is best for us. One main complaint that I have is that the "pavillion" is used as a "salon" and is not enclosed. I would like to sleep on a saturday night and not be up till 1am (because thats the regulated time that one can play loud music at our public park till) and get more than a four hour sleep.

Furthermore, I am tired of hearing that certain people aren't prosecuted for the crimes that have committed due to alliances with the judges or city officials. As a parent, if anyone committed a sexual offense against my child at any public school, I would seek immidiate legal action and prosecute anyone involved with covering up the scandal. I have heard of such an incident that occurred in our public school and nothing was done to the offender because he was affiliated with the party in control and the family was from Mexico. Sadly these things happen and everyone needs to be aware of them.

Let's see, some of you want to come back to Progreso and remember how it used to be. Why? They way I remember Progreso was a town that no one really cared about much less knew where it was. Now people are taking notice with Progreso. The school has proably the most successful Early College HS program in the Valley if not the state. Out of approximately 550 students enrolled at the high school about 200 of them are enrolled in dual enrollment courses and getting college credit. Progreso HS will have seniors graduating next year with up to 40 college credit hours. The year after next, PHS will have its first class of students graduating with both a high school diploma and a college associate's degree! In addition several of the HS students are graduating with technical certificates which is allowing them to enter the work force straight out of high school into positions such as pharmacy technicians and nurse assistance. Was any of this available 5 years ago? Ten years ago? I'm not saying that this is happening because of "the Velas". Progreso Independent School District obviously has great teachers and leadership. However, without the support and foresight of the PISD School Board Members none of this could really be possible.
Now let's see,... everybody claims that the "Velas" are corrupt and only in it for themselves. In the past 4-5 years both the city and school elections have been contested, scrutinized, and even brought before the judicial system. In none of the cases have any of the elections been overturned. Therefore, I think we all need to GET OVER IT and MOVE ON. Let's start focusing on the positive things that are happening in Progreso. There is no need to "go back" when we have come so far.

Regardless,of how people of Progreso feel the community can do something about it don't be afraid of the asshole's that run the city they have nothing to show what they have done roads,parks are not even fix. There will be a time when they have to show where all the money goes even thought they are thieves the thieves always get caught at their own game people should do something an not just talk shit because they can say no an vote correctly regardless an not be afraid to get fired from job provided by the vela just because you did not vote for them. You all should think about your own family is this what you all really want in your own community?

Hi! I just want to give my opinion about all this issue of Progreso and their "Kings". I was raised in Progreso, finished all my education there, and then like almost everyone moved out to a big city for the search of a better living. But even like that, I have a hope to return to this small town, not because of oportunities, because we all know it doesn't have any, but because when you are out there in a big city, and dont have nobody, friends or family, you feel lonely. For me, Progreso's citizens are like a big family.
