I have been away from douglasville since 1999 and returned just recently. I went to arbor place mall on opening day in 1999 and havnt been again until 2013. I can honestly say i am shocked. I was so impressed by the mall when it opened, now it looks just like green briar. So sad what blacks can do to a community

Exactly, they can ghettofy anywhere. Douglasville is one big sh$thole thanks to all of the section 8 and post Katrina kneegers..

Yep, it all started going downhill with Katrina. I worked at the mall from 1999 until 2011 and it is just not the same place.:(
It is WAY too dark in there now.

Yep, definately. That mall is ghettofied and caters to them now. Shame really, when it opened it was the nicest mall around and was trying to be more like Perimeter, now its more like Greenbriar or whatever that kneeger mall is. They ruin everything.

I agree, its just a matter of time for all of Douglas County....wouldn't be surprised if it only takes 10 or so years ..... however, don't be so hard on Arbor Place....at the moment, there are still times of the day and week when the mall is not overrun with bums and thugs....there's no doubt it has been going downhill for a while but I think if you can avoid the mall on the weekends you will find it more pleasant and more safe.

Just exactly when is Arbor Place Mall not safe? I mean, if you are going to call the place unsafe, how about being specific with facts that support such a claim?
I've never been to the mall at a time that I thought wasn't safe, and I live only 5 blocks away from it. That doesn't mean that crime doesn't happen there, but crime happens at every mall anywhere.

They have plenty of security at the mall, and on weekends the place is crawling with security, so I think if you make the claim that there are times when the mall isn't safe, you should give specifics and tell us of events that you can back up that support your claims.

Otherwise, I'm here to tell you that I've always had a good time at the mall and I'm a white adult with a family. We enjoy shopping there when we need something that the mall provides and we don't avoid anything about the mall.

Also, the mall businesses support this area with sales, jobs, taxes, and things to do. Have a good time and make the most of this great resource. It isn't perfect but it isn't a ghetto mall nor is it headed towards being one. Check out the YEP policy for starters. The mall is very strict about what goes on there.

Uh, Hortense.....I have no doubt that some of the negative said about AP are rumors and exaggerations. Like any thread on this or any website, if you have questions and/or qualms the best research is self research..that should bring the best resolution !

I also would like to add that personally when I have gone to AP alone or in a group, I've never had a negative experience. As such, I will continue to go there. I am not a frequent shopper but I really like the cinema there...they are courteous and helpful...furthermore I have never been in a cinema auditorium there with an unruly group....now I don't attend movies there on the weekend because I would rather avoid the crowds so I can't even comment on what its like on the weekends.

Is it safe for me to leave my two kids at Arbor Place Mall while I go play cards with my sisters? We usually play for about 4 hours at a time but the kids get in the way and I'm thinking that this be entertainmint for them to go around the mall a few time and look at all the Xmas stuff.

If security gard is there then dropping them off will be a load off my mine instead of try to get one of my neighbors to watch. I think we ask our neighbor a few times but they act like they getting tired of it last time an stop respectin. Our kids 8 and 11. I'm thinking they are old now to take care of themselves. If I give money for the food court that seem like it can work better than day care

I wonder if God will segregate us in heaven? Too many blackies to keep running to other counties, hopefully we wont have that issue once we leave earth! God is good & I hope he's reading the post we're leaving to make sure we're not cheated out in the after life!

AP is a decent mall. I always feel safe there, but I feel safe at most places since I carry a concealed handgun everywhere. It's crazy not to. The problem I have is that they don't have any really nice stores. If I really want to go shopping at a nice place, I go to North Point or mall of Ga. Problem is, the people in this county love to buy cheap crappy stuff. Hardly anyone here likes to buy quality products. I know this from watching the types of items that do or do not sell in my retail store. It's nice to live in a quiet town, but the downfall is that most people here are redneck hicks can't appreciate nice things. Any upscale store would go out of business within a year.
