After a campaign featuring strong arguments for and against Sunday retail alcohol sales, Douglasville and Douglas County voters decided Tuesday to allow it.

It's about damn time. That is all I can say.

"Save a life, save a family" give me a break. It doesn't matter if an alcoholic (or any other addict for that matter) can buy their poison on a Sunday, they'll destroy a family any day of the week...they are not going to take a break for god.(I would like to know who funded the signs though, just curious)

I am glad the rest of the county caught up with small parts of it, other parts of the state, and 99% of the country. It's 2012 you know.

Glad charter schools amendment won too...their competitors – the local districts - shouldn't be the only power to disallow them.

Sucks about Romney. I voted for him; however I think the Republicans could have had a better person in there running…Newt….Herman…among others, for so many reasons that I am not going to get in to on here. We’ll talk in 3 years. I would rather vote Libertarian but that movement needs much more traction. Right now all it does is take votes from Republicans which for now, is the lesser of two evils.

Go Obama. I wish him luck. I am not going make dire predictions and crawl in a hole and move to South America like my Facebook friends are doing and predicting, etc. We all have a vested interest in the best happening for America. So what if your/our guy didn’t win. 4 more years….let’s see what happens, time to go on with life, hope for the best, do your best, live your life and save a life and a family. I am really better off today than I was 4 years ago and I am an upper middle class unaffiliated independent minded person who buys all my own stuff. So, let’s see what happens.

I have been staying off here for the last few months because I hate politics, so I’ll just sit back for a couple of more weeks until all this crap dies down.

See you all in the beer line at 11 on Sunday at Krogers!!!!!

And Bill in D’Ville….I am workin’ on the Beer Joint!

Be well all and be thankful it’s a free country....for now (ha ha kidding about 'for now').

P.S. I am planning a trip to Colorado in early 2014 if anyone wants to join me for a couple of days. I just have to make sure I have vacation time when I come home so everything gets out of my system in case I have to take drug test at work. Goodness, can you imagine the “save a family” signs here if we ever had to vote for pot? We’d probably go through a forest of trees!

Why Should our government regulate booze sales differently any other day?
Should they really keep Sundays booze free because of bible law?
Seems kinda infringing on separation of church and state

We live in Douglas. Not Douglasville. Therefore we don't care what local laws they pass. What about our local laws?

The Topix computers aren't smart enough to know the difference between Douglas County and the City of Douglas, so some stories show up in both Topix places.

It would make it a lot easier for you to move to Douglas County, since it is much bigger than Coffee County.

Per Douglasville Patch the date for city purchases can begin 11/25. We will have to wait and see what date the county chooses.

The Patch article I link to below states, "When the City voted to put it on the ballot they also voted on the revised ordinance, setting an effective date of Nov. 21, a Wednesday. The County, however, only voted to put it on the ballot and have not yet voted on the effective date."

Hopefully, they will set it as the same date.

With pot legal now in two states I imagine there's going to be some interesting lawsuits regarding drug-testing at workplaces.

instead of wanting to tax millionaires for tax money lets increase beer and liquor taxes by 100% and cigarettes up to $15 a pack.Lottery tickets up to $5 each.let the lower class that buys this stuff keep up the other lower class people and spread the wealth around. This way the millionaires can create jobs with their tax money and give these poor people a job so they can buy the $15 cigarettes.
Lets tax welfare and food stamps $20 each per month. This will generate alot of money for the government With 49 million people on food stamps multiply that out.
