Could someone please tell me if it is legal to shoot firearms at the area off of HWY 61 North right after Ledbetter Rd and before the Sweetwater Creek bridge? This area looks like it was used to get fill dirt at one time so it has huge cliffs on all ends. It looks like it is private property but I see folks out there shooting a good bit and I've seen DC Sheriff's deputies ride right by people out there and not stop.

Yes, it is legal with the property owner's permission. It sounds as if they are being responsible to guard against stray bullets by choosing an area with high cliffs.
Why do you have a problem with it?

I am a responsible gun owner that unfortunately does not have a whole lot of land and lives in a subdivision in VR where shooting a firearm would be a stupid thing to do.

Sorry. The use of "Trespassing" in your title made it sound as if you were a gun hater. I hope you find a free place to practice safely.

I drive by there every day and someone put up an orange sign right at the entrance. Not sure what it says but looks like a no trespassing sign :(

There are 3 signs up now. I stopped to look and yep, no trespassing. Too bad, I live 2 minutes from there.
