So your saying that this dog would consciously think "this person is going to get shot, let me jump in there and take this bullet".

Sorry that you are to ignorant to figure out that a canine is a trained weapon that will defend its handler at any cost. Wowwy, you know how your pitbull sits on the steps of your single wide and chases all the kids that may wander into your lot, a canine is even more trained than that. Unlike your pitbull, canines are well trained and have training records as well as papers. They don't breed these dogs in puppy mills and your baby's daddy happens to give you one for your birthday. These canines costs thousands of dollars and the handlers go through a great deal of training. The canine also becomes part of the handlers family as it lives with them, you can take a page from this chapter and go get your put off the runner behind your trailer home. Many people within the department owe a feat deal ton this canine and so do many citizens of Douhlas County. They just don't apprehend felons, they also track missing children and elderly that may be lost. So when you're done surfing the Internet at the library and make it back to Pinebrook think that maybe you may need a canines help one day b

Sorry about my spelling Wowwy. I was typing this from my phone. I can actually surf the internet from my phone because I pay for it, it's not a government phone.

You keep using that term, canine. I don't think you know what it means.

Pretty presumptuous of you to assume that I have a pitbull and live in a single wide trailer. I'm assuming that's what you equate with uneducated criminals who live off of the government, collect a welfare check and have an EBT card and anytime someone disagrees with you, things what you imagine so that you feel as though you are better than them.

Do you realize that you offended a bunch of hard working good ole' boys who hog hunt with pitbulls? You just lumped them in with what you consider trash. Good job.

Ill let you have your delusions.

Back to the dog. It's a dog. It does what it's told in hope of a reward (ie. a treat or toy) that's it. Not because it was a noble thing to do, not because it conciously thought it was the right thing to do.

It's a trained police dog, it better behave better than your neighbors pitbull that's on a dog run. Cost of a dog means squat by the way.

“I know, right!”

Sorry that you're TOO ignorant to realize that a trained canine is not the same as a pet. My dogs are trained to defend my kids and my house. My dog cost thousands of $$$$, has papers and did not come from a "puppy farm". I've had numerous hours of training with working dogs (I was an MP K9 kennel master) and have had dogs become "part of the family".

And like wowwy said. These dogs work for reward. They do a good job for you for reward of food or affection not for recognition as you would suggest. Dogs are not rational animals . They do what they are told and perform as trained. A dog cannot be a "hero", as they do no rationalize. A good trained dog will find its mark, a poorly trained one will not. A well trained dog will find its odor, a slacker will not.

Dogs are not heroes, they are trained animals. Trained to perform

How about pets that rouse a family out of slumber when the house is burning?
I would consider them heros.

Although I support local law enforcement in most things, I think the traffic jam that this caused from people rubbernecking on I20 created an unsafe and inconvenient situation. 4PM on a workday....not the best idea for a K9 funeral on the side of a busy interstate.

Shame that the dog is associated with highway 5 and I 20, that means all they did is use the dog for a drug dog to generate revenue for the city with confiscations.

Are better uses for K9 s
