It has just been rumored that the owner of the Jus Fun Amusements park just west of Route 83 may also be the current owner of the abandoned water park (Ebenezer Floppen Slopper's Wonderful Water slides/Doc River's Roaring Rapids water park) on the hill with the billboard just south of Jus Fun Amusements.
Somebody better go tell him to do something constructive with that abandoned water park!

No, shit, what made him decide to do this?

If people get citations for allowing weeds and overgrowth to take over their yards, then whoever owns that hill and the abandoned water park ought to face heavy fines for letting that place become a totally overgrown jungle! All 7 slides, and a wading pool are in ruins, the whole place is like an overgrown jungle, retaining walls all over are bowing and buckling badly, the kiddie slide on the northeast side of the hill is practically a mosquito breeding heaven, as is likely that one concrete slide that is blocked by a pile of dirt as high as it's rim. Weeds and brush are everywhere, as are saplings up to 10 to 15 feet tall, the big towering lights are rusting through, a few of which may be on the verge of collapse. I am sure that whoever is using that billboard on top of the hill is having a total blazes of a hard time pushing through that labyrinth of overgrowth, especially with the parts of the messages and such that are put on the billboard.
If I were, hypothetically, granted ownership of that hill by the City of Oakbrook Terrace and if I had the wealth and power to do so, the first thing I would do is go in there with a Troy-Bilt Sicklebar Mower and a chain saw and clear out all of the weeds and woody brush. After that, I think I would write/call for permission to borrow a Rolls Royce Turbine jet engine, especially such as the one seen from 4:50 to 9:38 in a video at
Unfortunately for that place, not only is that practically impossible, but I am soon moving to Florida. And there is no way I could possibly operate that place at all from Florida.

Of course, I might save the weed and overgrowth removal for after the clearing out of the buried slide, basically to have fun watching the weeds and overgrowth getting ripped to shreds by the jet blast.

I used to go there in 1981 - that place was GREAT!!! I wish you wern't moving to FL and had the $$$ to reopen that place. Great memories, and it would be a wonderful place for kids to go today :-)
