Has anyone else heard that Shook got arressted for beating his wife? Because that is what I have been hearing but I am not really sure that it is trure.

I haven't heard that he hasa heartattack but I have also heard that he got arressted. Why wouldn't they take it to criminal court? Don't they want the rest of the county to know what type of person our former sherrif is?

Well you may have liked him but he never did anything for me when I needed him to. And I haven't heard many people say good things about him. I think he played very dirty when came to his job and I am so gald that he is no longer sheriff

You have your opinion and I have mine you can think what ever you want. And as far as not knowing who he is how do you know that we don't know him? How do we know that you know him because you live in burke county and the people there are so messed up that I am sure they would love someone like him to be sheriff becuase then they could get away with all of there drugs and what not.

Yes, Flower you are so right all people in Burke Co are just dumb redneck drug users. It is very obvious that you can't know Shook on a personal level because if you did such ignorant rumors and fabricated stories woudn't be spread. Geez did you ever stop to think that maybe us rednecks in Burke would want a Sheriff here like Shook to clean up our county as well as he did in Watauga.
I actually just happened to stumble across this website and saw the postings and well gosh darn it I was just so bored that I decided to defend someone I don't even know! Yep thats it just plain ole Burke Co ignorance. Duh!!!

Mark Shook needs to move to TN, Mountain City needs a sheriff that will take out all the drugs. I noticed that while he was in office the drug situation cleared up a lot over here but they all moved to Mountain City and Butler. If we could get him to move to TN then maybe some of the durg would move back to NC. MARK MOVE TO TN!!!! PLEASE.

I am a citizen in Boone NC and know Mark Shook pretty well to say he was great for the drug problem but that is all he cared about. If you needed him for any other problem you might as well forget it. He could have cared less. He was only good to you if he knew you on a personal level. Example: I put my mail box up next to the road only to have the neighbor tear it down. I called the post office who informed me to press charges because it is against the law to tear down mail boxes. Mark Shook came up to ivestigate and said I couldn't do anything about it and if I wanted my mail I would have to find another place for it. I pick up my mail 1/2 mile away from my driveway now. Thanks gerk for nothing.

Watauga made a huge mistake letting Mark shook go. Look at what we have now a sheriff that doesnt have control of his department drugs are out of control the detectives are in fighting more than investigating Dee Dee Romainger doesnt know the right end of her gun they have more narcs that general detectives and still no real drug cases???? Shook biggest mistake was protecting his office from Red Lyons protege and it got ugly and the citizens are paying dearly for it. Bring back shook is what i say

Shooks biggest problem was wanting to be seen and not being able to tell the truth. He didn't clean up the drug problem. All he did was make sure the newspapers and MTV reported on every arrest that he made. At least when he talked to the New York times he could have told the TRUTH!!!!8405

I saw a Bring Back Shook sign by Blust's house in Foscoe, seemed like a couple of losers sticking together.

Shook was a dumb dumb and the new guy seems to be doing fine. DD Romainger always seemed to be a pro IMHO.

When the name Mark Shook is said it is associated with a lack of Leadership, Honor, and Integrity.

Dont forget Shooks famous quote: "I didnt make it up or lie to you" (THE LETTER). He has to say that to people close to him because they know everything he says is a made up lie!

I expect he will be on a Chris Hansen show pretty soon...

Well Big Jim you obviously dont know your new guy (sheriff) or DD Rominger. The Sheriff has no prior law enforcment experience and it shows and DD was I believe community service before becoming Captain over the detectives and from what is being said no one cant work with her not only because she has no clue what she is doing. Shook was way better than this. Blust was great for watauga.
