I would just like to say that I think that some of the people that are employees at Johnson County Ambulance need to get a new job. First you have some that stink with BO, some that go to calls that are toned out as cardiac in nature and run with lights and sirens on but only go 35 miles per hour. Then there are others that just don't care if you are sick and injured they think that they are just there to sit on their butts and get a paycheck. With some of these people I would say that you would be better to get in your car and go to the hospital yourself or get in another county and call 911 from a cell phone.

If you don't like the area you live in, you have the option to move. If the ambulance people do not suit you, then pick your wonderful place to live. Remember, this IS Vienna, you don't have a lot to pick from, as far as responders, etc, ambulance workers. I do think they try their best.

I love the area in which I live and not all the responders are bad just some of them do not have compassion or empathy to do there job any justice. That place use to have very dedicated employees but when they county refuses to give them the same benefits that other county employees had they had to go union and the board at the time they did this all three were union themselves with their other jobs but yet went against them going union they left. Plus you have a director that cannot keep her own house in order let alone the service. The county would do good to replace her.

I would have to say Wendi does a great job out there and has done so much for that place. They truly do have some good medics out there. The only one I have had problems with is that J.C. dude, that needed a haircut. He was very rude and disrespectful. But other than that, I think we have a great ambulance service. Bravo to Wendi for everything she does for this county!

todd test used to work for them, does he still? that dude was a badass medic. he bandaged up my dog after he ran over it and it lived for an extra 3 days.

if he doesnt work for them anymore then thats probably why the service sucks

I had to call an ambulance about a month ago, and I have to say that I was very impressed with the two young men that came. They were very respectful and you could tell that they had compassion and empathy and that they loved their jobs. I feel that they did more for me than the hospital did. I think they said their names were Robbie and Wes.

You're going to have a couple bad apples where ever you go, but don't let them spoil the bunch.

People like to get on here and talk trash, but lets set the record streight...

Wendi does alot for that service, and would do alot more if she wasnt against the union, the county, and insurance companies that dont want to pay.If the county would make the service tax funded and support Wendi and the medics, Johnson County would have a better service.

And yes there are good and bad medics everywhere you go but that is not anyones fault but the county. If they took care of the service, they would not need a union, by the way the union protects the bad medics as well as the good ones.

SO, if you are going to talk about something on here you should have the facts first...

I am sure that if any Johnson County residents has any problems with any of the EMS staff all that you need to is go to the ambulance department and speak to Wendi in person and she would be more than glad to listen and address any concerns that you may have. Do not hide behind this gossip website,go and speak to her

I would have to agree with "Thats Right". The service has had it up's and downs like any other place. The service use to have good people that was there for the benefit of the citizens, and kept things up to a "T". They took pride in the vehicle, personal appearence, and base, and overall professionalism of their job. When to County doesnt want to pay wages, benefits and state that these people are not county employees they had to leave. As normal they are replaced with other that just don't care.
They received a new base, and it appears as if they do not take pride in it, as like their vehicles, being broke down all of the time.
We all have our "premiere" medics that we like to deal with in out time of needs, but have to deal with the ones that we get.
Employees and Employers need to open their eyes and relieze that times are changing and they need to also. Benefit from the good ones that you have and train the others as they need to be, if not replace.

I have been told that he still resides in the area but has moved onto a different job. Something about flying.

I've been following this topic since it was posted, and I feel I need to add my two cents now. I work for another EMS service outside of Johnson County. I have to say that the medics and administration at JCAS is some of the best around. Sure, there are one or two there that aren't the sharpest knife in the drawer, but lucky they are EMT-Basics, so they are usually not the primary care provider. I see Johnson County Ambulance as a training center. They hold EMT and Paramedic classes there, as well as continuing education courses and others. They are also one of the few services around that EMT or Paramedic students can complete their clinical ride-a-longs at. They do have a great station, and contrary to popular belief, they do have good trucks. Sure, they are ran hard; they are getting worn out, but I'm sure they are doing what they can with the funds that the county government will (or for better words, will not) give them. We are having some of the same problems where I work, but JCAS's battle with the county is worst. Just don't blame the service. It's far from their fault.

Many of us do not recall the days that the local funeral home directors were called to help the injured or area law enforcement officers dragged them into to back of their vehicles and rushed them to the nearest hospital - doing their best to help save a life. That was before my time also.
I volunteered on the JCAS when the service was based at the prison and the only EMTs were inmates of the prison with only basic life support training. Paramedics were only heard of in big cities. At that time, only the director had a paid position, with volunteer civilian drivers.
I recall receiving criticisms for not driving beyond the speed limit from a family member of a lady that called the ambulance service for a broken finger. Yes, a broken finger. They insisted that this person be transported to a hospital, yet still complained about the service.
Many good people have worked very hard for many, many years to create the ambulance service and I am proud to be a part of it's young history.
