Soldier's words haunting in death.
I couldn't disagree more. Inspiring is the word that comes to my mind although I'm sure his words would be haunting to the sheep that will come along and defile his brave service. To the families of those who have given all, I am sorry for your loss and thank you for the contribution you have made. God bless the warriors that still stand and fight for our freedom. |

If our country had had an effective, balanced, consistent post-war policy toward the Middle East, it might not have been necessary for brave kids like these to die in Afghanistan and Iraq. And, yes, I have lived in the region and know whereof I speak....

What a shameful, backhanded way of dishonoring these fallen patriots. Your comments are both disingenuous regarding their sacrifice and false regarding our enemy. I'm pretty sure that I'm much better acquainted with the population in the middle east than you are and can say with confidence that the muslim population in general have disliked us since the Crusades and that will NEVER change. As far as the islamic extremists/terrorists are concerned, there is not ONE thing that we could ever do to placate their evil intentions toward us, period. That is, nothing short of our complete annihilation! These American patriots reflected the dangers contemporaneously in their letters, as they knew our very existence is at stake! God Bless Them All for their sacrifices by protecting us from these evil-doers, including 'lakefront liberals' like you. |

God Bless you and thank you for your service for the people of America and to the high principles of freedom and democracy. May St. Peter welcome you with open arms at the Pearly Gates for the peace and tranquility that you so deserve.

sacrifice for what??? its just another viet nam. its not our problem.time to stop wanting to be the worlds peacekeeper. let someone else do it for a change |

People as brave and sacrificing as Sgt. Stream make me feel like a coward and I am humbled that they die so I can live the easy life I do here in the greatest country in the world. Our country is the most benevolent, peaceful country in the world despite what all the psychologically disturbed, leftist America haters say.
It is interesting to note that President Obama during his campaign played the kook left Democrats for the morons they are with his empty promises. He is keeping former President Bush's rendition policies intact, is defending the Bush policy of imprisoning w/out trial enemy combatants captured abroad and his recently commissioned Pentagon review of Guantanamo Bay determined that it meets Geneva Convention standards. |

This country owes every single fallen soldier a gratitude. We enjoy our security and freedom because our brave men and women who put their lives on the line every day and sometimes pay dearly for it. May God bless our soldiers and their families. You'll never be forgotten.

How is this our Vietnam? Has everyone already forgotten 911? Maybe with Obama, the Olympics and every other spotlight when the planes crash here and kill you or someone you love, hopefully you will realize our middle east policy is for OUR security. Ignoring Hitler in the 30's led to WWII, ignoring extremist's gave us 911. It is not ancient history. And for those who cry about Iraq, ask how a Kurd how they liked being victims of genocide, or is that inconvenient to your argument?

And who might that be? NATO? France? Germany? No, this isn't just another Viet Nam. Its a terrorist base and they deserve no safe haven anywhere on this planet, unless you'd like to see more days like 9/11. |

Greg,
your an IDIOT! This man, and many others have made the ultimate sacrifice for you and the rest of our country and our freedome. Maybe you should reflect on that for a moment and realize what they, and All others before them have sacrificed. These are OUR soldiers. Stop comparing everything to Nam. Our military is controlled by the civilian command authority, meaning we do not have to worry about a military coup like many other nations. If you want a change then you vote in a new president. Wake up and give them the credit that they so much deserve. I can not stand people who sit there and moan so much about it. |

My heart goes out to those brave soldiers who gave the ultimate sacrifice. My condolences to their families. It was so sad to read how Sgt. Scott Stream dropped off his youngest daughter at school on her first day of kindergarten never to see her again. It was the day he was leaving for Afghanistan.

Whatever our personal thoughts are about this war we can still support these fine, brave men and women who are sacrificing their lives everyday. It is very sad that they have to lose their lives. The sacrifice to their families and loved ones is more than the mind can bare. Thank you to all these lovely people.

Why disrespect the death of these men. If you new them personally you would understand that they believed in what they were fighting for. Their mission was to train the police in order for the troops here to withdraw. I don't see that as being a world peacekeeper, it is more of a mentor helping the police here to end their corrupt ways so their fellow Afghans will trust them.

My friend we are fighting that war using the wrong tools. No amount of fire power will kill and idea or a religion. Better use our persuasive powers if there is any left. Even Iraq, I predict soon after (less than 12 months) we leave Iraq there will be a civil war or another kind of government take over there. |
