I can't see Utica passing that test when most of central Mississippi is in such decline. And even if it did, using tax money should still be the last resort with dependence on private investment as the primary goal.

do u not kmnow where u-ti-ca came from it was founded in the 1800 and it is as well known historic place the name came from utica,new york which the correct pronouncation for it is (u-ti-ca)i think most of u just dont know that so the idea of trying to bring utica back is a great idea cause it have a powerful meaning of it....utica need to go back up and let the people explore the city remember we have the natchez trace which runs very far so i think that restoring utica would be nice...

I really appreciate an opinion from an Utica resident. I am working on getting the work done on Depot. I would like to see Utica get back to having businesses that bring revenue to the town. WIFE OF DESCENDENT WHOM LIVED IN UTICA. ALONG WITH HUSBAND AND SIBLINGS HOPE TO BRING BUSINESS TO DOWNTOWN UTICA AGAIN...MY GOAL IS CLOTHING STORES SO RESIDENTS YOUNG AND OLD CAN REMAIN LOCAL IF NEEDED....BUT MY HUSBAND IS IN BETWEEN THAT IDEA....HE WOULD LIKE A SPORTS BAR/NIGHT CLUB...MAYBE HE NEEDS TO REVIEW THE CORE OF UTICA AND MAKE THE FINAL DECISION....WHATEVER THE CASE, WHAT I COULD SEE IS THAT UTICA IS ON THE DANGERED COMMUNITIES LIST!

I am glad to read that someone else wants to see good things in Utica. I have 2 stores there I am trying to make a good decision on what would be good for the community.
