Why don't we have football yet. We need to vote out the entire school board out and get people in there not padding their pockets

I'd love to see SCHS get a team but realistically who would they play?

If warsaw and trimble county in ky can have teams then there shouldn't be a problem for us, milan, southwestern, and south ripley to get teams.

Don't get me wrong. I'd love to see Pacer football too. But Gallatin and Trimble Counties and no different in size to Carroll, Owen, Henry and most of the local schools. They have competition right under there noses that are established. For the most part it is equal competition also. Milan and Southwestern would have a much more difficult time financially funding a football program. The closer football programs close by like Madison Scottsburg and Lawrenceburg would run us. over. I played in high school. I'd love to see my boys play. But... I see a hard uphill battle to get a program. I hope for my son's sake I'm wrong.

I would agree it would be an uphill battle, but we have to start somewhere. Although I do not have boys who could play, (I have two girls in the schools here) I do have vast experience in the sport and would love to see it come to town. I think it would provide an excellent alternative to some of these young men (and women (cheerleaders)) who end up either sitting at home playing video games or roaming the streets getting in trouble. It would teach them discipline and assist them in keeping their GPA's up. Hey, if it ever gets put on the table, I'll be there to support it 110%.

Exactly .... you nailed it. I have mentioned before to the principal I'd volunteer to be a coach even. Nothing like a Friday night under the lights. Oooooo the chills lol

We would need to start with a pee wee program, not just jump strait into high school. If we lead instead of follow maybe the other schools around us would get their own programs. From what I heard it only cost about $200,000 to start up a program, and that is less than that Anne Geyman (I think that's her name) lady was taking for over four years, and they said it took that long to catch because it was less than 1% of the budget.

There is no doubt you need to start at that level to build up interest and a following. I believe Milan has a team already unless I am mistaken. That's a plus. I do believe that was her name as well. Maybe if enough parents in Switzerland Co. showed enough of an interest the school board would surely have to take notice. Elections can be won or lost listening to the "people"

That is the truth. I need to start getting the county paper more so I can find out when the meeting are. My four year old son has already told us we need to move so he can play football.

If I remember correctly about 20 years ago we had a pee wee team named the switzerland county panthers and they went undefeated, but it was only for one year and my family moved away for a couple of years the year before.
