Im going to vote for Chad Hartman; I know all the candidates and he is a true leader with good moral values and Versailles needs someone with these qualities that can run a police department without any issues. He does so much for Versailles already, just an easy choice for me!

Like everyone this is just my opinion & what I have witnessed...
BROWN is simpley an a** kisser & prob won't do anything except what Sheriff Petty tells him to do!
WITT is a decent enough guy but, not real impressed with his law enforcement ability!
HUNTER not convinced he is mature enough to handle the job!
HARTMAN is simpley two faced, your best friend one minute then stabbing you in the back the next!

I guess you just have to pick the lesser of the evils!

I think Hartman is the best qualified candidate. He has been with the department for a very long time and worked closely with the former city marshal, which means he has some idea of what the job is about. He is already a great contributing member of the community and wants to be elected city marshal for the department, not for himself. In my humble opinion, a couple other candidates will give him a run for his money because the town will treat this as a popularity contest. It is an important decision and should be made by determining who is nest qualifief, not by who your buddies or family are.

Chad Hartman is the only one to be voted in, period. I have known him for a very long time and this man is dedicated to the community, family and the department. When it comes to Hunter, I would like for him to be a "Real Man" and explain to the public why the heck he got taken off being the SCHOOL DEPUTY? Have we forgot this man was on the verge of losing his job, but our City Council side stepped it all. Its time for Hunter to STOP ridding DADDY'S COAT TAIL. Doesn't work for me, he has not addressed this issue nor will he. It must of been something big in order to loose that postion. SERIOUSLY FOLKS IF HUNTER IS NOT TRUSTED WITH OUR KIDS, HOW IN THE WORLD CAN WE TRUST HIM WITH OUR ENTIRE COMMUNITY. NO THANK YOU! I have known Ron Witt for many years also, he is a nice guy, but he does not have the ability or leadership for this position. Last time I checked being nice is not a qualification for City Marshall. For the Brown person, well I simply don't even know who he is. This is not Rocket Science people, lets get it right and ELECT HARTMAN.

Hunter was taken out of the school BECAUSE he had been what they said "stalking a local woman"

As long as you have the city council you have, Bozo the Clown could be Chief and it wouldn't matter.
If they won't allow the Chief, whoever he is, to terminate for cause- you are always going to have a 'sheltered workshop' where the inept and untrustworthy are safe from the consequences of their actions.
This is also precisely why you don't have a better list of candidates to choose from. No real LE administrator will accept an environment where he cannot separate the chaff from the wheat.
So either tell the council to let the Chief run the PD, or put the monkey on their back to select a Chief and live with the consequences.

Well I don't know they details and whys as to HUNTER'S removal, but like I said if he can't be trusted to protect our most PRECIOUS GIFTS, why in this world would we try to protect our entire community?? And if he per say was stalking and that's not enought justification for dismissal I can only image what he would allow to go on if he was elected. I DON'T EVEN WANT TO THINK ABOUT IT.

There are no secrets in a town the size of Versailles- ask around. If they can''t be trusted to leave each others' wives alone, what does that tell you?

Probably the best thing that could happen to VPD would be for somebody from outside it, to get elected. Otherwise it'll be business as usual and the only thing that changes is the nameplate on the office door.

I honestly believe Chad is not like that, I know his wife as well. These two are the real deal in my opinion. The city would be extremely lucky to have him vs the choatic mess from the others. Hunter like to frequent the bars, and stated in his meet the candidates he could go to training to learn the job he is running for. Training??? I'm sure it was in the basics that cops don't break the law. He is a crybaby when he doesn't get his way and uses his daddy to try and help. I had respect for his dad (Clark) but not after the epidsode I heard about. Chad will not let a bunch of bologna go un-noticed, he is a better person with morales and values. I am proud to say I support him 150%.

Hunter was removed from the school and placed on the night shift primarly as retalation from Hartman, Burkhardt and Chief. He was 'stalking' his ex wife, who refused to let him communicate with his daughter regularly. She made the complaint while in a relationship with Burkhardt, his supervisor and friend. Hunter did an excellent job at the School Distrct and was given letters of support from the administration, which was presented at the city council meeting. Fact of the matter is that Hartman is more of the same ol same ol, little protection, little serving, more incompentence.

Some people will believe whatever their drinking buddy tells them. The reasons he was fired from resource officer at the school are valid, and yes, I do say reason(s). It is too bad that the city council did everything they could to keep the topics of Hunter's discipline private, as I believe now more than ever it is very important that the public know exactly why Hunter was approaching termination. Guess it pays to be friends with the board members. Vote in new City Council members for the win!!!

Well it is time for some new faces on the city council. Shouldn't matter about your last name or who you are related too!! And that punishment wasn't from Hartman and Burkhart, Larry Marshall was the chief. Larry tried to do the right thing but city council blocked it. I think it's time to meet our city council face to face and demand answers. For crying out loud we tell people in our newspapers who spends the night where, and a public employees illegal actions are kept under the table???? What the heck???
