I think in order to work at the jail you at least need a 2 year degree, it doesn't matter in what, but if you want to check go to ky.gov and look in the professional section under jobs, it gives a descrip of each. And by the way, lawrenceburg is a really cute town, it just has a lot of people in it that talk stuff about people they don't know because they have nothing better to do. There are A LOT of good people here, you just have to find them!

I know Lt.Carter uses the mowers from the Parks Department to mow his own yard and used the inmates to work at his church and famley get to gathers is this leagle, Alan George is afrade to look into this and Gary Gilkinson won't do any thing about it he has been told about it.( See if this isn't true!!) How about you John Coyle did You know about it?
Actually this is perfectly legal its part of the work release program. Whats wrong with making them work. I think they owe it to the county to do some work. Why should spending time in the jail be easy? I mean really we spend thousands of dollars to house these repeat offenders (look at the Evans family they have marked cells) why not make them do some county work to pay the debt off. Every time one of them goes and mows the field for the county parks that over 129 dollars the county saved us tax payers. So i say go for it make them work hell they can come mow my lawn if they like.

Personally i think after work the inmates should get to rest and relax on a bed of concrete with no pillows or blankets and te A/C should run full blast in there cells and make it as miserable as possible.

This aside Lt. Carter is not a great choice for Jailer and Adam Zornes wants nothing to do with this jail i believe he makes great money in Scott co. So i am quite sure he is content where he is at.

It's not legal to use the inmates for their personal use. I don't know where you got your information from but your wrong. If you don't believe me, call the jail and ask them.

I have heard that the candidate Johnny Jones had a DUI conviction in Anderson County along with marijuana charges that were dropped. I am not familiar with either candidates criminal backgrounds but the Jones name & being arrested has come up several times. I do know Johnny Jones nor Joe Carter have a criminal backgrounds in Woodford County. Does anyone who knows the Jones man know whether this is true? With the recent episode with Derek Capozi escaping while in custody, I just feel we should know who we are electing and if they will run the detention center professionally and keep the prisoners as well as the public safe. If there is any truth to the rumors about Mr. Jones the voters should know his background. Anyone who knows how that can be checked in Anderson County I am sure many people would be interested in knowing before voting next month. Anyone with information please respond.

why should they treat inmates in a bad way ? what about the few people in there who might actualy be innocent? and got arrested on some bs charge ? it does happen.. innocent people get arrested all the time. you cant punish people in jail. they may have broke the law. but everyone breaks some sort of law everyday... you just neverrrrrrrrr know when you will get hemmed up in a situation and your innocent

If you aren't a registered voter you do not really have an opinion. Your tax dollars may pay the salaries but unless you go to the polls on May 18th it doesn't really matter so don't bash ANY of our candidates unless you want your opinion to count!

And another thing, to "I Get Around", when ANYONE is running for an elected position, PEOPLE do everything they can to DIG UP DIRT. The elections are always very heated and the candidates have a lot at stake - money, time and reputations. Iím sure if you looked into the pasts of all these candidates you would find AT LEAST one thing they arenít proud of. I could give you specifics but right now our corner, jailer, magistrates, county clerk and in November our mayoral races are going to be very intense and rumors are going to fly. I know for a fact that Johnny Jones (as well as any other candidate you are curious about) would love to hear from you. Please donít hesitate to contact Johnny and he will set the record straight! His website is www.jonesforjailer.com .

As far as Derek Capozi goes, that was just another county passing through Woodford County on the way to the airport. If it had been in Fayette County we would not have been involved. Those of you that think our jailer or anyone else in Woodford County had anything to do with his escape are once again very uneducated. Over the next 3 weeks we are going to hear everything about our candidates, some may be true and some not true. So once again, you want an opinion about ANY one running, VOTE!!!!!

In response to Tommyetta, I am a registered Woodford County voter and plan to utilize my right to vote on May 18th. I also have a right to know what kind of person(s) I am voting for. I am not DIGGING UP DIRT as you put it but merely asking a question about the validity of statements about Mr. Jones and his ability/integrity to run the jail. I feel every citizen when they step into the voting booth should be well informed as they vote.
The upcoming forum would be a perfect place for Mr Jones to acknowledge whether he has been arrested for a DUI in Anderson County and whether marijuana charges were dropped. This has come up in several political conversations/functions and I only asked if anyone knew they were true or not. That is not bashing. If he addresses the rumors at the candidates forum and he has nothing to hide he can set the record straight and we can make our decision for jailer based on what we find to be true from his response. Possibly someone reading this may know if it is true and Woodford County voters should look forward to comments. As to the mention of the Derek Capozi escape nothing was said as to Woodford County having anything to do with his escape. I used him as an example of someone very dangerous loose in this county and I would want to know if he were or any dangerous person were to be housed in the Woodford County Detention Center that the jailer would be performing in a positive manner. We don't elect government officials without careful consideration and anytime you enter politics you are under scrutiny. As you stated probably all the candidates have done things they are not proud of. That is no doubt true but we are talking about breaking the law and being arrested and now asking to hold the office of jailer! Some things said in political races are true and many other statements are ridiculous. Also, in your closing statement I disagree with you. You don't make an opinion of someone running by voting, You vote because you already have an OPINION and are casting your vote because you believe and TRUST in that person's ability to do the job. I do not know Mr. Jones so I can't speak on his background. I want to know the kind of man he is. I am sure he has been contacted on this matter and I truly hope he addresses it at the candidates forum at Falling Springs. I for one would welcome him telling us the truth. Finally, we do agree on one thing. Everyone regardless of who you support on May 18th, Please Vote!

I am a former Anderson County resident and I know for a fact that these rumors are true regarding Mr. Jones. If he wants to set the record straight, I agree that the forum is a great opportunity for Mr. Jones to admit or deny these allegations. However, the forum is a no questions asked forum so we as citizens cannot ask Mr. Jones questions regarding these rumors unless someone personally ask him at this event and I hope he will do the right thing and tell the truth. In my opinion we do not need someone with a criminal background in a publice office. On personal level I think it would be very hypocritical of Mr. Jones with his criminal past to run for public office.

Thank You for sharing the information on Mr. Jones. As you said he needs to do the right thing with you for one knowing he has charges and has kept it hidden from the voters. Hopefully, someone with this knowledge will ask him publicly at the forum and he will give us a chance to decide on election day what type of person we want to serve as jailer the next four years. I don't understand "no question" forums. If the candidates can't respond to the people they serve instead of edited questions they have no place being there. Again, thanks for your input and hopefully others can share their knowledge of Mr Jones as well.

well.. i was for mr Jones. i think someone who has been on the wrong side of the law might actually treat prisoners with a little bit of respect. criminals may have lost there rights to be out in the public. but they are still human beings and not dogs.. under Gary Gilkinson.. him and his possee had a reputation for treating inmates bad..BUT once i heard Johnny Jones was running as Gary Jones as his deputy? i lost interest in him as the new jailer. Gary Jones is a peice of work. i think he ruined the integrity of recreational sports in woodford county. i hav e NO respect for him in any shape form or fashion. and Although i would like to see people from outside of our current law enforcement win elections of this type. i cant justify voting for him.Joe Carter does seem to be a nice fellow. But i think he will be simular to Gary G and be a horses ass and treat inmates as animals.. and for the record. ive NEVER been in jail.. i just know people who have been inmates there and the treatment they got is not pleasant

Wellll....I went to high school with Joe Carter and have kept in touch with him over the years...Joe wasn't a cop with an attitude, he just wanted to do his job and go home....I once rode with him when he was a county policeman, he stopped a car for some minor traffic offense, then let the driver off with a warning..I asked why, he said it was too close to Christmas and didnt want to "take" their Christmas money...The point of me telling this is that I don't believe he would mistreat anyone.
