I've always been curious as too why nobody seems to want to invest in either of those ventures in Tupelo. We have shopping out the wazoo, but there's little else to do.
I really think something like the size of the former Liberty Land in Memphis, or a water park like geyser falls in Philadelphia would make gold in Tupelo.
If folks drive a hundred miles or more to shop in Tupelo, surly they would do the same for the above mentioned. Thoughts as to why we don't have one?

There need to be an investor team who is willing to pinch the idea around. Also the insurance on a theme park or water adventure would be out the roof. However, I do agree that Northeast MS needs something like that in the worst way.

Especially with the new I-22 merger...Definitely would do wonders for the economy in Tupelo. People from Memphis would even come down for that.

I think it would be great for something like that to come to Tupelo. It seems to me that Tupelo could be very profitable to a water park or any form of entertainment for families. We need things for our kids to do . Yes, I remember Grady's big water slide. We need other things besides bars and juke joints.

If you put up a fence around North Green Street, then you would have a big zoo.

How many "gangs" are there in Tupelo? I hear about outlaws in Lee county, but Tupelo, like other cities, is overrun with gangs, which could be a serious problem at an amusement park, as in other cities.

Tupelo citizens do not have enough income to enjoy amusement parks. It comes down to getting more taxes from others and more low pay slave jobs to attract more poor.

Maybe some elephant hunting also.

There aren't gangs in Tupelo. There are some teens that come out and cause trouble because they don't have adult supervision but that is everywhere you go. What Tupelo really needs is jobs as it seems most that live here are living off of the government. I live in Tupelo and after living in different parts of the country I actually enjoy this place but as far as anything entertaining you really have to leave town because there just isn't much to do around here.

There are no real gangs in tupelo. Just some hoodlems pretending to be bad & cause trouble. Go to Chi town if you wanna know gangs.

By definition Tupelo does have one gang, the TPD. Otherwise, very safe area.

It is not supervision they need. It is lack of morals and ethics they exhibit. When you live off the government you have no self respect and become irresponsible. Learned helplessness is a product of government supplying those that cannot afford and do not have the skills to raise children.

The city borrowed $14 million to build a heated, indoor aquatic center for "all" to enjoy, so get over there and jump in. One third of your taxes will be spent paying for it so you really should take advantage of it.

Most of Tupelo can not afford to get there much less use it. What we have is a play toy of those in power. The poor have to work.

The Reedzilla regime pushed through spending to help the Reed family's stores and to give the Reed family's business friends a heated pool for the grandchildren. Reedzilla spent money like he was a Chicago Democrat to support his friends while dumping on So Gloster and East Tupelo businesses. Now the city's debt and financial obligations, including repairing the airport, will be paid by tax payers who have no need for a hot tub or airport but desperately need a bridge at Crosstown and a city bus system. Reedzilla and the Pitts left the city in the Pitts. Good luck to the new mayor.

Then you never accomplish anything and you die with no success.
