The good newspaper should be a catalyst in its community, oiling the efforts of widely varying groups to achieve a reasonably smooth, balanced flow of progress. It seeks to provide coherence to scattered and sometimes conflicting objectives, enabling its community to get a better view of priorities and ways in which joint efforts may prove better than splintered activities.

The good newspaper is its community’s encourager which by making known what groups and individuals are doing brings mutual support for each other’s projects and invites still greater personal initiative. It is a community’s semi-official provider of pats on the back through news stories, pictures or editorials. The good newspaper can contribute perhaps more than any other institution to development of an active, mutually serving citizenship.

The good newspaper seeks to promote a spirit of neighborliness, by the features it carries on the activities, the hopes and concerns of the “average” citizen. The good newspaper knows most life is lived by small people and their activities deserve a word, however brief, in reporting the news. It seeks ways to say “yes” rather than “no” to requests from its readers or the general public. It is warm, not cold; flexible, not rigid, in meeting each day’s challenges.

The good newspaper should be a friend of its community, limiting criticism to needs for improvements rather than condemning shortcomings.

The good newspaper carries stories about progressive undertakings and methods, which can be profitably imitated by its own community, recognizing that the good example of others is frequently effective; creating the impression that “if others can do it, so can we.”

The good newspaper will not merely report but will enlighten, recognizing that the typical citizen may be limited in his understanding of government, economics, human relations, etc., but frequently is eager for broader understanding when the information is presented in an interesting, credible manner.

The staff of the good newspaper develops expertise not merely to propose progress, but to assume active leadership in bringing it about even though this involves leaving the impartial, isolated ivory tower and involves one in activities which may stir controversy.

The good newspaper is one of the hardest workers and most generous givers in civic affairs but does not seek to dominate the community in a way that causes others to say,“Let the paper do it.”

The good newspaper is an economic tool for personal and community progress. It recognizes its advertising as being of major value to the community as is its news and should try to maintain the integrity of its ads as it does that of news stories.

The good newspaper serves as an educational institution, takes up where a college degree or institutional walls may stop, teaches life as it actually is being lived without effort to conceal human frailties but seeks to help maintain faith and hope in human potential and human progress, emphasizes the good more than the bad.

The good newspaper reaches out as far as it can touch or see to bring to its readers new ideas, new approaches to life, new methods of meeting problems, and new information which adds interest or joy to life. The good newspaper recognizes that boredom is one of the great burdens in many lives; therefore it does not hesitate to provide entertainment and pleasure as well as educational material. But at all times seeks to maintain good taste throughout its columns.

The good newspaper adopts as one of its major objectives the unobtrusive establishment of a definite tone in its community built around high ethical standards, a cooperative spirit, a broadly based tolerance among all groups, a yearning for personal and community growth, a belief in God, service to man and hope for a better tomorrow.---George Mclean

George would fire everyone at Create and at his daily paper. His paper has become a burden on his cash foundation while destroying the trust of the community having no value to anyone and is known for its evil spirit stirring up the stink. No one reads his paper. George would fire everyone for not working but taking his cash and sitting around mopping.
No Owner No Direction

Without no owner for nearly 40 years, an organization gets lost and the foundation money keeps the doors open and as usual there are those who have their hands in the pot. No direction, no purpose, no where to go but down. You just can not hire good help now days. The new people know which professions that have no future.

The daily journal will try to ignore Ole Myth getting beat again in basketball. Coach Freeze has changed the culture at Old Myth. Losing is popular.
Daily Journal

The daily journal has been lost in the wilderness for nearly 40 years with no purpose nor direction. Major changes are coming soon and the old liberal mistakes are finally going home.

The young publisher refused to publish the same ole sex marriage wedding photos until his CREATE board of wealth reminded him that he works nightshift and in charge of the paperboy routes. All the decisions are made downtown in the McLean Institute in the board of wealth room. The boys down on Green do not make any decisions and publish garbage thrown in the streets. Funny how decisions are made without George but with his money. How has CREATE improved your life with a board of wealth dictating to you?

When the polls are clearly against the old farts at the daily, they change the poll for their agenda. The paperboys in Tupelo are not trustworthy and have lost out to the internet where the news is free without opinions and used car advertising. Craigslist is the only way to sell anything in Tupelo. It works and its is free. Say no to paperboy opinions.
Internet Sales Tax

Tupelo, MS

#8 Feb 9, 2017
The opinion editor found out with two quick polls that no one in Mississippi intends to pay a dime in sales taxes on internet purchases. That is illegal and the paperboys are all about paying their fair share on a level playing field. LOL The paperboys never played anything but pocket pool with a their hands in someone's pocket.

Tupelo should be taxing the daily paper for its pole tax.

No one reads a daily newspaper that is old news even if it is free. The news is on line and is breaking news up to the minute and news that matters. The big city of Tupelo now has gateway signs that all point to downtown REEDS. The convention bureau tourism taxes are deposited in the Reeds marketing account and the city taxes in the downtown association REED account. Gateway signs and directions. Have you be touched by the new convention bureau system Can you name a few taxpayer funded things that you bought in Tupelo that are never used. The convention bureau and the swimming pool are just two but the lists goes on and on and on. How about all the cross walk and bicycle traffic lights downtown on main that beep all the time? Have your lights been tweaked?

Our opinion is that signs offer all that Tupelo has downtown. The gateway signs reflect the closing of Tupelo main store downtown that has a rare gift wrapping service charge. A purchase at Reeds is indeed rare downtown Tupelo shjhl

The power boys downtown Tupelo have a new direction for Tupelo and its growth. Tupelo has had no growth in the population and the mass majority refuse to work. It is a new Tupelo of non workers living off welfare and supplemented by the united way and boys and girls. The daily journal has failed to support Tupelo with the news.

A Good Paper Tupelo

There is no good paper in Tupelo. Advertising is not owned in Tupelo. All the media outlets have no local ownership and the management has been imported to cut costs and offer as little content as possible. The daily paper in fact is dictated to by a board of wealth that has no idea how to managed a news paper from a leather bound board room downtown. Tupelo is a smoke and mirrors little town with no growth in population but thugs wall to wall.
White Honkie Neighbor

Like a bad neighbor the daily urinal has no good writers. Attempting to stir up the natives who park all the used cars in the yards throughout Tupelo. Does your neighbor refuse to work and let the working white crackers feed their unplanned and unwanted kids. Good for nothing paperboys stirring up the natives?

Do you really care what some goof ball thinks of you as a bad neighbor? Who pays your rent? How do you really love your neighbor? Do you really love your neighbor on a regular basis? Always the race card? What good is a bad person playing her bad hand for a few bucks?
