Did y'all know the owners of fun spot & other "connected" people live in the neighborhood? How much money was given to eckerts re election campaign to get this killed? We have to take back belleville and create a better small business and housing inspection atmosphere. Belleville has been left behind by shiloh, ofallon & fairview because of belleville ignorant housing/business/building inspections and crap like the cafe owners problems. The good old buddy system is still alive and well in belleville.

I think every citizen in belleville wants to see our city thrive. You obviously have not been doing your homework. Home owners are leary about new business' coming into their neighborhoods and so they should be.
Why should the city even have to hold a meeting for these wanna be cafe owners in the first place? The city has already deemed this particular neighborhood residential. There should be no meeting taking place. If you want to open a cyber cafe or a teen hangout do it somewhere else, not in the middle of a residential neighborhood.

I think the cafe owners should have done their homework first before purchasing a vacant building. It's a shame that this happened to them. But, it is a residnetial area. And the residents do not want a cafe in their neighborhood. I'm thinking that the neighbors are afraid that the cafe would turn into a bar maybe? Even so, it's their "RIGHT" to keep their neighborhood business free. I wouldn't want a business in my neighborhood either.

Their plan was to open a teen hang out cyber cafe in a neighborhood that over the years have had problems with these types of business. Not only did they not do their homework, they were asking money from the city to open their business and after they were told NO.. They starting threatening people and making false accusations, it has been really ridiculous. By the way they talk and act, you would think they were from a certain area of Illinois that does not have to good of a reputation f you know what I mean?

I see. Can't really blame the neighbors for not wanting teens hanging out. I do realize these kids need some safe place to go and socialize. But, with all the vacant buildings in Belleville, why choose one in a neighborhood where the people don't want a disturbance. Teenagers are loud. We all know this it. It's just part of being a teen. BUt, not in a quiet residential neighborhood.
