Rumor has it that Mr Mosley isn't allowing the campgrounds in the Town of Vienna that are in the flood plain/flood way to open..... any truth to that??????
#2 Apr 28, 2009
What, if the campgrounds close who will pay the water bill? We need the campgrounds to keep our water unit bill down! What the hell is the town thinking this time.

not sure what the full story is ... guess the DEC is involved, which explains a lot! Apparently selective enforcement is catching up with the town and, without a lot of warning, there are HUGE problems with the way things are being handled in flood areas. The campground owners and residents are still responsible for the water/sewer bills where they apply , but many are not in compliance with DEC regulations. There aren't a lot of CLEAR guidelines to go by so its a work in progress.... Can't wait to see what happens next. The town isn't known for handling major issues like this with much tact,I'm sure this will be no exception. I will be pleasantly suprised if it happens any other way. The saga continues..........

With the 2 bridges down on higginsvile and cover rode in the town of Vienna, Haskins road washed out, I fear the town will have no evacuations routs when this flood happens. I don know of any emergency plan in place for this Armageddon of a flood. The beach should not a parking lot so close to the lake in the floodway. Another problem with the campgrounds is many people retire from Florida Etc. and come to Sylvan beach in the summer to live, now with the flood they will be dislocated with no home or grounds to stay in the area. However their decks can stay, and pose no threat according to the town who gave people permits to build expensive pressure treated decks. But their Campers that are movable and weight tons cannot. Strange why the town allowed these decks last year and charged people for them. Strange ,,, Wear a life jacked in Sylvan beach and the campgrounds, according the the goofy flood plains map, we are all going to need emergency evacuation in this area, We need to get the Red cross involved, National Guard, Police, new, ambulance serves, helicopters, boats, fire department on the ball for this amazing flood and evacuation, According to the flood maps all of sylvan beach and fish creek with some homes being over 100years old and now in jeopardy of Flooding and washing away , fire department on the ball for this amazing flood and evacuation, According to the flood maps all of sylvan beach and fish creek with some homes being over 100years old and now in jeopardy of Flooding and washing away.. We need a huge emergency evacuation in place for this 100year flood. For when it happens the town of Vienna is not prepared!!! Houses dont move so easy my Camper Can, GROW UP town of VIENNA grow up

We NEED DEC, FEMA, COST GUARD, National Guard, roads and bridges up, evacuation routs, Police departments, Red Cross, News, a Shelter, its going down, the end of the world, we need to be prepared.
Get those emergency evacuation routs in place, Sylvan beach has to much traffic to it on a weekday because the side roads are down, During this 100year FLOOD, We will all parish if the town dosn't get in touch with all these organizations, and formulate an evacuation route. Town of Vienna GET TO WORK. You are shutting down the campgrounds in the Sylvan beach area, I don't care. These campers are on wheels, we need to help those that have homes and cars in the floodway and floodplain. Or we will ALL DIE!!!!!!
Satan Is going to destroy all of sylvan beach and homes on Fish Creek by FLOOD!!!
Only Jesus and the town creating an emergency evacuation fire drill and procedures can SAVE US!!!!
OHH Please HElp Town of Vienna, SYLVAN BEACH...
I'm To young to die.
Perhaps I can hold on to one of the Inspected and permit given for Decks in the Flood way, These should be safe but my camper is not!!!!

Going a little overboard there Hogwash... there are plans for flooding evacuations etc and they have been implemented several times since they were created back in the 90s. The biggest part of the problem is the lack of knowledge on the code inspectors behalf, had been aware of the FEMA and DEC regs the permits wouldn't have been issued. Secondary to that is the fact that MANY of the people who built decks and permanent structures in the campgrounds never had building permits to build them, they just "pop up" overnight and it is almost impossible to catch them all. Any responsible campground owner knows that buidin permits are required and they should be held ultimately accountable. They are, after all, the property owners. Thirdly, the campers ARE portable and by regulations supposed to be moved out of the flood way during the off season, again the owners are responsible for this. Rumor has it that our former supervisor got this ball rolling because he got caught doing some illegal excavation, so as per his usual mentality, hes gonna get his revenge.....typical of his childish antics

I have A deck @ my campground, and it has a Town Inspection, They were nice enoff to waive the permit since it was already up. So That Deck Gets to Stay according to the current town, and My Motor home dosn't??
#8 May 8, 2009
If the deck is a permanent structure they are saying it should be ok after inspection, the camper, however, is obviously not and in the case of flooding could possibly float away. If it isn't permanantly attached it would be in your best interest to move it to higher ground during flood season don't you think? DEC does.....

My Deck has a permit to be there all year, so F-U local Yocal, I will find a new place to pull my camper, I don't need your flooding and local town, I will go to brewerton as well, Keep my Deck that has a permet and a inspection, let that float away!!! I'm taking my camper to a nicer area.
You people are all crazy.
BTW Keep my deck, it has a permit to say their forever!!!!
You local Trash, Sylvan Beach and the Campgrounds in the Area like Landing, Mayfair, Ta-ga-soke, Edgewater, paradise Cove can all go underwater.
I hope you people look for help on your roof tops soon during this flood, or look for my DECK!!! Its over $1,000 and has a permit to be safe.
DEC and Town of Vienna Are All Crazy, I'm telling everyone I know not to invest in a camper in that AREA!!!!
Go to Onterio, or Lake George, ADK, its way better then you and your crazy local yocals.

I think the regsa re coming a day late and a dollar short as well...however the DEC is making the townships enforce an existing law that has been bypassed for nearly 30 yrs to my knowledge. The town could probably be handling it with much more tact than they are, but that's not something they are known for anyway so no big shock there. You are blaming the town and villages for something that the DEC and FEMA are causing, the codes people are being forced to comply. It isn't just an inconvenience to the campers, it hasa huge financial impact on ALL of the local business owners as well. It is also not just the campgrounds that are being affected, it is homeowners too. The lack of knowledge and enforcement of the flood way regulations has the potential to cause man home/property owners, including myself, a lot of time, money and frustration. But getting angry doesn't help the situation, becoming informed about the issues is the only way you can fight back. The prior (and current) codes people are il-informed individuals who are getting paid to do a job they aren't doing right. As a result this crisis is at hand. The worst part is the whole thing started as a revenge tactic from the prior administration. You can say you are going to go somewhere else to camp, and given the current problems locally, I can understand that, but remember that anywhere you go, if its near the water the same regulations apply and the publicity here is going to make all the other townships around the lake vulnerable to the same thing we are dealing with. The best thing you can do for yourself is get all the information you can regarding the DEC and FEMA regulations, because the campground owners failed to do it locally here and now people like you and I are paying the price for it.
