NEVER condemn a victim of suicide! To whatever measure you judge others, that is the measure that will be used against you. This is true psychologically if not spiritually as well. Suicide is neither courageous nor cowardly nor ANYTHING. Suicide is always something beyond another person's understanding- so have sympathy. You never walked a second in his shoes let alone lived his whole life from birth, so all of your assumptions are moot. He clearly was undergoing more suffering than you'll probably ever understand, so be grateful for your life instead of condemning someone else's.

I hope he rests in peace. My prayers and thoughts to the family and friends of this surfer. I also know the tranquility of surfing and it is incomparable to any other experience.

Many of my friends have attempted suicide, and several others did die from their suicide attempts, and it is NOT that they haven't thought about the toll it takes on family members and friends. Read a psychology book. My closest friends who took their own lives were actually the ones who cared about other people TOO much, if anything, to the point that they thought prolonging their own misery would result in increased misery for everyone else in their lives. There is nothing to judge or do or say. Die a few times and then maybe you can cast a stone.

Josh was my friend and substitute teacher :) I met him when I was 13, had the biggest crush on him ♡ today is the 6th year anniversary of his death.

I've had quite a few friends commit suicide. It's never an easy thing to get over, it kills the friends and family. I don't know the guy but I wish him peace on the next best ride in the sky. For the family and friends I wish you guys strength through these troubled times.
Should set up a surf day for his memory would help.
