I am laaughing my *** off. Seriously, the town and state have done everything the could the last few years to see to it that a safe, reliable, job-supporting, cost-effective, clean energy source is shut down, both actively and passively. Pure politics. An NOW they are worried about losing tax revenue? If I were Entergy, I would not "negotiate", I would say Screw You, Vernon! How can they even legally tax a waste product that is being stored because it has no remaining energy value (unless you re-process which was killed by Jimmy Carter). They only reason it will even remain on-site is because the feds screwed up Yucca Mountain storage repository with more politics.
Good luck to all the newly un-employed VY workers in 2012, hope your state gov will pay your bills.
Where have you been? Entergy/VY has been continuously telling ALL of to screw-off! As far as your ignorant statement that the waste has no value, it is listed with the FEDERAL government as an asset!

Would it do any good to explain that nuclear energy is one of the LEAST clean sourses of energy? Doubtful you could understand

As a VY employee I must state that you are misinformed. The town of Vernon has supported the plant and it employees very strongly. You may want to check your information before you suggest saying a big screw you to someone.
