I absolutely agree! The Reformer should be ashamed of their "reporter" Howard. Leave this family alone. It does not matter what was behind the accident. It happened, sadly. Let the family grieve. Be ashamed of yourself, Howard, or better yet, DISGUSTED, because WE are!

I'm sorry I wrote this wrong.

I am so sorry to hear of this very sad event. My heart goes to The family Of Travis Richmond. To his family, you are in my prayers.
To the reformer it is nice that you have respected the family's wishes to be left alone regarding this difficult situation.

I have to disagree with you on this matter. Offer the family a voice to share their position is not a bad thing at all. I am sure when and if the family wishes to offer a bit about who Travis was so that people will not see him for being just "the 23 year old from Vernon who died in a car crash". Again. My heart goes out to the family. I have loss 3 friends while in High School, To car accidents, It still holds a emptiness when I think of them. I will remember them for all that they gave during their short lives.

This is very sad, whenever anyone loses a child for any reason. From the time frame of the accident not hard to figure out, he was out partying and probably had to much to drink. So many lives ruined on bad choices. Parents, talk to your kids, it may be uncomfortable but it could save a life. Tell them its not cool to drink and drive. I always told my sons even when in high school, don't ever get in a car drinking or with someone else, call me I will come, no questions asked and I will not punish you because I would rather you be safe and alive. Now many may not go along with that, but they are grown men now with families and will use that same rule. Lets face it kids will be kids, we all did it, what is different is we are here today because we got lucky, don't take these chances. I am so sorry for your loss. I hope others reading this, tell your children, just call, don't risk your life, no matter how old you are.

You can assume that this is what he was up too. I make no assumptions. A friend of mine was studying for his classes with other friends it was late and he was tired, His drink was "VeryFine Apple Juice" it was about 3am he made it half way home then loss control of his vehicle because of damp roads that were slippery not because he was speeding, his car crashed and he died. No alcohol, no drugs, he might of been chewing wriggles gum no one made mention of that. Why would you want to assume the worst here? He lost his life. Lets paint a picture to make this young man look like a victim of his choices. Shame on you.

Its a sport sedan that, used, has a present market value of approximately $13,000.

Cadillac in recent years has been trying to appeal to younger drivers.

Why do you think such a car is not appropriate for a 23 year old?

I would like to say that it does not matter what time of day or night it was. Who knows if he was drinking, or fell asleep. It does not matter NOW. There is a time and a place for the drunk driving discussion, and this is not it. He was a friend of my niece's, and his friends and family are shattered. Do not assume you know what happened just becaus of the time of night or morning. I lost two friends because someone fell asleep at the wheel. The family is grieving, they do not NEED to comment to the newspaper. What did they expect that they would say? If I had been contacted after my brother-in-law died in June to comment for the paper, I know what I would have told them. I met Travis a few times , enough to know that he is being mourned deeply. RIP, Travis and the others that we have lost to traffic accidents and other reasons. The hole can never be filled. PLease do not assume what you do not know.

I just don’t think these things are a family story. All the police and ambulance people have seen the out come of the accident…the hospital staff….and I am certain all the family members of the police, the EMT’s, the hospital staff are feeling the heaviness of what occurred. Usually it is only a newspaper story who puts a tragic story like this in some kind of context.

I mean it is horrendus the amounts of our young adults who gets killed in these kinds of accidents.
