How about our population stops this war between ourselves and we become a population of cooperation. We then appreciate our government.
We'd dominate the planet if we became that...

Some day we will abandon destructive superstitions and use reason to guide our morals and behavior.
#5 Dec 13, 2012
Yes get rid of the destructive superstitions but keep the ones that are harmless and helpful and make people happy. At the same time get rid of the people who worry themselves to death over stuff they shouldn't care about and have no control over. Like what other people want to believe.

We already dominate the planet. As for a "war" between ourselves...it is not a war it is a discussion that some people get emotional about and it is productive no matter how much it appears it is not. Reality is that we need a healthy and strong debate because neither side is smart enough to do it by themselves. One side is heart and one side is head and that is very very healthy.
If nothing is happening but arguing it is because there is nothing that is that important to be done immediately. That is the nature of the beast and you have to just accept it. If an emergency arises it will be taken care of by agreement.

There are no harmless superstitions. Every myth replaces knowledge. Destruction of knowledge is not helpful and replacing it with lies doesn't really help anyone.
#8 Dec 13, 2012
War is very real and it can usually be traced back to people who replace knowlege and reasoned debate with superstitious lies. The reason that they never reach an agreement in the middle east for example, is because they are not arguing about reality. There is no rational argument for "god gave us this land". This has easily proven itself over the last 2000 years to be decidedly NOT productive. And no, we don't "have to just accept it".

"The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge."
#10 Dec 13, 2012
Arguing the pro and no god theme is the symptom you haven't figured it out in your head yet on both sides.
You are still insecure...
#11 Dec 13, 2012
Firstly, I am arguing the pro truth, reason and knowledge vs superstitious lies theme.
Secondly, I assure you that I am quite secure in the knowledge that there most likely is no god.
Perhaps it is easier for you to project that I am having "symptoms" of insecurity than it is for you to accept the truth that there probably is no god.
Sounds like you are the one who is having symptoms of insecurity. Which is a better position than being sure of unreasonable superstition. Good for you Mike.

In 1905 Mark Twain wrote a story in which a pastor leads a prayer asking God's support for recruits about to march away to war. A white-robed stranger enters, takes the pastor's place, and explains that he has come from heaven. God has heard the prayer, but wants them to understand its full import. Their wish, cast in other words, is this:
"Lord our Father, our young patriots, idols of our hearts, go forth into battle -- be Thou near them! With them -- in spirit -- we also go forth from the sweet peace of our beloved firesides to smite the foe.
O Lord our God, help us tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with their little children to wander unfriended in the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames in summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it --
For our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet!
We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen. "
Twain's daughter Jean urged him not to publish the story, fearing that it would be seen as sacrilege.
"Still, you are going to publish it, are you not?" asked a friend.
"No," Twain said after some reflection. "I have told the whole truth in that, and only dead men can tell the truth in this world. It can be published after I am dead."

Yea, but there is no such thing as "truth, reason and knowledge"...

I hope for your sake, that statement is just an attempt at humor Mike.

No, I will stick with that statement, none of them words are trustworthy on face value...
Especially these days where the system has turned all of us into liars.

Name one moral or ethical action or behaviour committed or carried out by a believer that could not have been committed or carried out by an atheist.
Name one immoral or unethical action or behaviour that has been committed or carried out in the name of God.

Now back to the pre-trollnut invasion topic which was China taking us over
I posted this B4 the electon:
2012 US Elections: Obamney vs. Rombama
"A vote for Obama will bring war with Syria, Iran, and eventually Russia and China. The economy will continue to suffer in order to bolster the interests of off-shore corporate-financier interests, while the collective prospects of Americans continue to whither and blow away.
A vote for Romney, however, will also bring war with Syria, Iran, and eventually Russia and China. The economy will also continue to suffer in order to bolster the interests of off-shore corporate-financier interests, while the collective prospects of Americans continue to whither and blow away. Why?
Because the White House is but a public relations front for the corporate-financier interests of Wall Street and London. A change of residence at the White House is no different than say, British Petroleum replacing its spokesman to superficially placate public opinion when in reality the exact same board of directors, overall agenda, and objectives remain firmly in place."
and in the news TODAY:
'China Flies Into Japanese Airspace For The First Time In History'
Japan scrambled eight fighter jets on Thursday after a Chinese state-owned plane breached its airspace for the first time, over islands at the centre of a dispute between the countries.

^A new television ad about the U.S. national debt produced by Citizens Against Government Waste has been deemed "too controversial" by major networks including ABC, A&E and The History Channel and will not be shown on those channels.
The American Dream is being ripped apart right in front of our eyes, but apparently some of the major networks don't want the American people to really understand what is going on.
