Hi all. We have recently purchased a home we will be retiring to in a couple of years. In the mean time, we are using it as a weekend getaway. I was wondering if it is possible to get TV reception just using an outdoor antenna as we don't want to pay for satellite when we will only be up only occasionally. We are near the H.L general store area.
Thanks in advance ! |

In a couple of years the town will be sooooo corrupt and the taxes sooo out of sight, you'll wish you retired in the South. To answer your question your high enough on the mountain you should be able to receive a signal. Welcome to Vernon, where the town center leads to nowhere and the council is throwing good tax dollars out the window. If you have a chance you should go to some of the meetings just to see where all the money is going.

You make me smile, ole Chief Sitting Turkey was once a proud resident of Vernon, now with a corrupt town council its going to the Turkeys.
Hope you enjoy the area as much if not more than I did, except for the crazy traffic on the weekends in town. |

Actually, you cannot get a signal. For the last year or so they have been running commercials on tv and in newspapers that the old fashioned antennas would no longer work as of June 12, 2009. The analog transmission (using rabbit ears or an antenna on your house) was shut off nationwide to free up that frequency. You can get a digital converter box for free tv.

thanks VR. i have heard that with the new digital tv's and the correct antenna the 'over the air' reception delivers quite a clear picture. thanks for the input gentlemen.
