I really don't understand Mountain Creek's marketing and promotional teams plans for South. South has been built into a terrain park marketed towards young thrill seeking individuals. As an 'older snowboarder', I've been at South quite a few times since it's been converted to the terrain park, and I would be willing to bet, 80% percent of the riders there are UNDER 18 years of age. Why on earth, Mountain Creek insists on trying to market KINK, with activies for the 21 and up crowd is beyond me.

This is a town that didn't want to allow a tattoo parlor because they didn't feel that it would be good for the town's image and here they're allowing a Pole Dancing competition??? What's next?? Mud wrestling....or how about a lap dance competition?

it'funny because all of the above post's are correct. I think pole dancing belongs in only 3 places, strip joints, your own bedroom(if thats your thing) and maybe a gym for adult's. It has no place at mountain creek.
especially with all those young people. I could just see a girl who had a bit much to drink and then she goes up and starts working the pole. Not a good site for the youngers. Very bad judgement
if they allow it.
They should try and clean up the south a bit. It has gotten a bit roudy. kids smoking weed on the line and drinking and cursing alot.I don't care that they do it somewhere else, but there are alot of young kids including my 10 year old and it should not be tolerated. I was young once to, but had respect when other people were around.
So if your reading Mountain creek, pay attention.

I plan on contacting OutKast, the Skate Park group and our rec director. Also, the zoning dept. This should not be happening. Even the NJ Herald editor agrees with me that pole dancing is an "odd choice" as a fund raiser of a kid's park!

If you thoughtthe picture in the newspaper was racy, you should see the poster advertising the event. You can see for yourself on the Vernon
Township Facebook page. Pure sleeze.

I could see if you were going to have it a a strip club. But a ski resort!!! what is mountain creek thinking of. totally bad taste. I hope the cops are
around and someone gets arrested for lewd conduct
because thats what i see happening. yea if you want to do it in your basement or at a gym that's ok because that's were it belongs. I can't see girls showing up in gym outfits.
whats the dress code???
ON another note, i bet there will be some fake looking strippers there looking to cash in on 500.00.
I support them

I'm going to the event to support the skatepark.
The skatepark group has been volunteering their time and working hard for the last couple of years to raise money for the park. The group has a goal to make the community better and I for one support them.
My kids want a skatepark and this skate group is going to built them one. If you don't like the event don't support it but relax people your getting a little carried away.

What is surprising is that Mulvihill purchased Mountain Creek to be an extension of his "class" operation at Crystal Springs and then allows something as sleazy and low-class to be held there. Have you seen the poster advertising the event? So is Mountain Creek to be the red-light district of Crystal Springs?

Listen, this is a charity event. It is going to be done in good taste. This bar is 21 and older. No kids will be anywhere near the event. Remember this town accepted the playboy club in the 70's. This is not meant to tear the township apart, it is just a different way to raise some money for a beautiful cause. Please don't make this out to be any worse than it is. It is not going to be any more "sleazy" than any night I've seen around bars and clubs elsewhere or even in our beautiful township of Vernon. Remember the cause, and if this event is not your style,.hopefully you will come to the next one. This organization is meant to help our town even if they have a unique way of fundraising. Thank you.

its sad to see so many people quick to judge something that they may know little if at all anything about. First the dancing pole has been at the club for at least three years..and apparently hasnt been an issue till now.. Its 21 and older to get in so i believe your children will be safe unless your one of those parents thats too busy complainig on the internet while your underage teenager is trying to get into a club with a fake id. Take it for nothing more than what it is... a bunch of ADULTS having fun trying to raise money for a great cause in a very different way.

Just read this now.
This event is a bad idea.
Save the trashy events for other towns.
The playboy club also tried to have a swingers club open up there not long ago.
Legal, but in bad taste for the area.
Pole dancing is legal also, but in bad taste for the area.
Come on folks, can't we find a better way of fund raising for charity that would allow our young girls to keep their clothes on and their values in tact?
Is having scantily clad girls jiggling around a pole the only thing you can come up with to put you over the amount of $ you will need to build a skate park which will mostly be used by BOYS anyway??
If its not sexist how come you are not letting boys enter the contest? Come on now we all know what this is about.
Money is what you want to further your own interests nd you really could care less about the youth or girls of our community if you could propose such an event.
Shame shame shame on you

My goodness, this event is for over 21 and to raise money for the youth of the Community. Pole dancing has become somewhat of a sport and not all are half naked when they perform. I don't think Gene meant to make it look like Vernon is the slums for Crystal Springs. I would like to believe his jesture was that of compassion for the lack of stuff to do for the kids in Vernon that wont cost too much money for them to have fun. I still hope the winner donates the winnings back to the kids...too bad I'm way too old to hang upside on the thing..I'd enter just to give back the winnings.
Here's a thought, if every resident in the Township donated a dollar.....would that be enough to get the skate park up and running without causing so much grief over this crazy contest? If so then open yer purse and pull out one dollar.

The event went on and was a huge success. Congrats to the vsmo on a incredibly fun event and night. It's still a shame some of you are still spreading your hate on here when you wouldn't even come out to see what it was about or how it was run....shame on you!

Shame Shame Shame on you and I hope the stores that will benefit from this "contest" really appreciate every filthy dollar they are going to get from this and THAT is why you are so interested in getting this skate park going.

You want to sell more skate boards and skateboarding crap to the kids that will use the skateboard park and YOU know it.

If you cared at ALL about the kids and ESPECIALLY the young girls in this community you never would have even suggested this "contest". Maybe some day you will be able to find YOUR daughter spinning around a pole in a strip joint some day. Let's pray for it and see how you feel then.

It's clear what your motives are and you just lost a lot of support and money from the MOTHERS of the kids who have been but won't be any longer giving you their money.

Think about the kids for real next time and not your own pockets.

Lol I have no motives.. Nor am I a part of the vsmo. But I support there cause 100 percent. All I'm saying is this... If I was offended or appauled by something in my town I would go out to the event and find out exactly what it's about. It so easy for people to sit behind a computer and spout there opinions on here with nothing to back it up. come out to an event and see the love and positive attitudes that are involved and I'm sure you may change your mind.

It was actually women that came up with and organized for the event. They did a great job too.

The "love"?
I'm sure you (probably a boy) LOVE seeing girls spinning around a pole with practically no clothes on.
Good luck to you and any daughters that you may have in the future.
Maybe you'll understand better when you grow up and have kids of your own.
Sadly, that's the way it always is.
Time teaches the young.

Based on your quotes alone your ignorant at best and hatefull at worst. I'm actually not a boy but a 32 year old Vernon tax paying man. I have no agenda he'll I can't even skateboard. I know this though.. The skate park is good for the community and the past event was fun and tastefully done and your opinion is mute cause you weren't even there... And for you to judge me as some boy looking at girls dancing and seeing them as strippers makes you a sexist. And thank you for praying for me.., I'll pray for your children to have a open minded mom.
