I heard that there is a lawsuit in the workings for the town because of the lack of the release of public information when requested...only excuss's are given lately. Their time is coming..

All this coming from someone who wanted far more than Marotta is requesting to stave off bankruptcy. She failed in her bid to get elected, consequently went bankrupt (hurting several local businesses badly) and now even after 18 months has a bad case of sour grapes. Ironic thing is she was not even the runner up in the race.

It would also be helpful if the information she gives was accurate, there are ranges for each position, nobody is guarenteed a raise to the top of their range.

This has nothing to do with our ex-mayor. Believe it or not there are people in this town that read the paper and follow the council meetings and are fully capable of formulating their own opinion. And yes you are right, the figures suggest salary ranges, however, should we just keep our fingers crossed that the mayor does not increase salaries to the top range. The mayor lies so much that we can no longer believe what he says, or trust that he will act in a manner that is in the best interest of the taxpayer. I am sure if the mayor and council did not include themselves in the pay raise, taxpayers would have never questioned the raises of the other municipal employees, however, since they included themselves they have now risked everyone’s raise.

Sally should have walked away after the loss, and tried to salvage some pride. She is now running around with a band of misfits and looks more foolish daily.

Vic and the township employees deserve their raises and they're not going to affect people's taxes. Whether you're a fan of his or not, our taxes were decreased and services increased.

Again the pay increases have nothing to do with Sally Rinker!! I remember the mayor saying, and I am paraphrasing, I can run this town with a salary of 500 a week, and just six months later he is giving himself a raise. The mayor put everyone of those employess up for a raise in jeopardy, nice guy. In my opinion we are paying for that twenty four dollar tax reduction one way or another. Should have never gave us reductions because they are going to need the money to cover the budget when more and more people file for property tax appeals. We are so far in debt that if everyone in town filed for an appeal this town would go belly-up!!

Marotta always maintained the decision about whether the Mayor's position should be part-time or full-time was up to the Council. By all accounts he did speculate that if the whole was to be approved as part-time, he would do it for $500pw. It was set up as a full-time position and he started out at $30,000PA (ie less than $600 pw for a full-time position) and is asking for an increase to $50,000PA (close to $1,000pw) which is consistent with his initial estimate given he intends to remain full-time. Given what he brings to the table, it is a bargain Further, while you can claim it is irrelevant all you like, the fact that Rinker wanted more and indeed put more in the 2011 Budget than the current cost speaks volumes.

Ok I am not unreasonable. If the mayor wants to be full-time that is fine but then change the business manager to part-time. The point is vernon is not a big city with big city problems such as high crime and social issues.

Marotta used to be a car salesman at Franklin Sussex..he is used to lying and cheating the public. He could never really hold down a real job...thats why he wants to become full time at the expense of the tax payer.

Vernon has resolved a lot of old issues in the past year and moved forward on the sewers. While I do not agree with some of the solutions it is clear that a lot of work has been done and more needs to be done to address all the problems which led to the change of government being a viable proposal in the first place. Before the change of government, we had a Town Manager costing between $130,000 to $150,000 per year and an Assistant Manager most of the time earning over $70,000 per year. Currently, we have a Business Administrator capped at $120,000 per year should the referendum pass and a Mayor earning $50,000 per year, I fail to see the problem.

I agree down the road we might get away with a part-time Mayor, I do not believe now is the time to make that change considering the progress yet to be made.

If you don't like it do something about it. He was voted in, he can be voted out. If you don't like how something is being done, stop complaining and offer up ideas. If you think something isn't getting done, stop whining and pitch in and help. This used to be a town of doers and givers, not it's a town of takers.

Well it seems the loser and two of her misfits are running for Council. I can only hope that they will learn from this to bow out gracefully, but somehow I doubt it.

They would rather take a vote that MIGHT be able to make a change for the better for their own egos...Sally Rinker is an idiot who cannot accept she lost an election....any MANY friends along the way. Now she has the misfits as friends....can they be placed on the "Island of lost people" exactly where they belong! Vernon politics has gotten way over the top, in a bad way for sure!

Sure anyone can say anything, difference here though is that it is all true. Marotta ran Rinker's only sucessful run for council in 2009, Mulvihill persauded the local Repupublicans to make her Mayor and the VTA supported her. Since then Marotta split with her, Mulvihill refused to support her in 2011 and the VTA broke up over her. The remaining VTA might as well be the called the local Democratic party now, nobody else left.

It gets really ironic when you consider that the issues that Rinkler beats up the Council over, Fire Prevention and the MUA for example were her solutions. She wanted Van Gorder fired in the worst way and she voted to set up the MUA.

I could go on, for example Rinker wanted substantially more money if elected Mayor yet made it a major issue.

I really have to wonder what kind of 'person' feels the need to go after someone else day after day year after year for things that may or may not have happened years ago.

Sad, very sad.
