Get over it... seriously - someone says your walking on thin ice and you go and sue? I guess I better stop "harassing" my kids when I tell them they are walking on thin ice with me. Sally Rinker is an adult, a Mother, a family person and somehow seeing Sally Rinker throwing a brick through this guys window is really far fetched. What a waste of time and money. This is why New Jersey gets a bad rap around the country. People suing over the DUMBEST things. I for one am glad Mr. Benda never made it to our town council if this is how he acts and thinks.

No one is being sued. Harassment is a PDP criminal offense--municipal court only. If it was just two private citizens arguing, it would probably go to mediation rather than trial..... However, this was a Mayor--- maybe it will need to be handled differently--but that is up to the prosecutor and a judge.

No one ever said that the mayor threw a brick.

We are so overly litigious, it's eroding our country from the inside out. Lawyers are a plague on society.

I hate frivolous lawsuits.
Whatever happened to "sticks and stones"?
If that guy sues just because that woman touched his arm he should be ashamed of himeself and then he should be spanked!

I understand that no one accused the mayor of throwing a brick but Mr. Benda assumed it and put the dirty thought into the communities minds when he said that coincendetally a brick was thrown threw his window the same night SAlly Rinker told him he was walking on thin ice. I agree with Ricciolini - Craig Benda should be ashamed of himself. This is a fivolous lawsuit. Benda is looking like he is accusing the mayor of harrasment cause he is simply jealous and it is a bad ugly look.

If he wins his case will he get $ or just a restraining order?

It is not a lawsuit. No money. Just a PDP---municipal court stuff and will probably not go to trial.

If the inappropriate behavior stops-- nothing more to it. If the mayor continues then there is a documented case shoeing a pattern of behavior--which IS more serious.

Reading most of the Forums for Vernon saddens me. The Township haad its problems way back when but nothing like the problems now. If one side wants it the other fights with everything they've got to thwart it.

I love Vernon, even though my personal life wasn't so great there I loved many living there and feel bad they have so much hate around them.

Makes me want to throw bricks too, at all of them!

Benda was not represented? That means the Prosecutor refused to have anything to do it. Very embarassing for all the local regular Republican bigwigs in attendance.

The paper was misleading. The prosecutor was there presenting the charges for Benda. Only the defense has a choice to use a lawyer or defend themselves.

Get real-- if anyone DARED to touch the MAYOR, or publicly threaten HER-- she would NOT demand round the clock police protection and use the media to embellish and exaggerate and feign "harm and devastation"???

Two sets of rules, I guess!

The prosecutor was not there beside Benda. FACT, I asked. Spin this anyway you like but bottom line is Benda is a weenie who needs to grow a pair.

"That means the Prosecutor refused to have anything to do it."
No
Unless the case is dismissed by the judge (and it wasn't), the prosecutor is responsible for representing the plaintiff. Perhaps they had a pre-trial conference with the lawyers' agreement to send it to mediation already a done deal, and the hearing was just a formality--OR--- Maybe the prosecutor is afraid of the Mayor??? LOL

Not true, the prosecutor reviews the case and can choose to have nothing to do with it, he is free to do so. The plaintiff (Benda), has the option to still persue the complaint. If Benda does so, which it appears he has, he opens himself up to damages if the defendant is found not guilty and the complaint is found to be frivilous.

She's a sheep in wolve's cloth. Look a little closer to the hearth for those that steal. Someone closer to you and your son has done time in juvenile detetion center for stealing.
