Every company has bad management, but not in all departments. I work at CDW and I can't complain. Fortunetly, I wasn't let go. CDW was better when Michael Kransy was around, no doubt about it! But we needed change and that's what John Edwardson did. Unfortunetly, he wasn't the better man for the job. He thinks of himself and not the coworkers. He's greedy! I just hope CDW doesn't go bankrupt. I don't plan to work there much longer to find out.

Nothing happened!! If another layoff is in mind, it won't happen until the end of the quarter.

CDW has a lot of great people that work there. They will make it through this. They just need to pay a little better to retain the good people.

I totally agree with you, but the problem is that we have a few more managers that has influences of retaining good people by there definitions (kiss.....). Instead of quality of work, making the sales goals for the year, great team players, etc. Basically anything that measures a coworkers integrity! I really do hope things will change, because there are a lot good people that works for CDW. And there are coworkers always asking what can CDW do for me all the time, instead of what can I do for CDW too. I just want to remind the decision makers that Actions and numbers does speak louder than words", something like that.
In conclusion, true workers if you see someone in front of you is too busy deligating instead of helping out. Say something or document it and give it to the person in front of them or HR. Because noone is going to do it for you! If you a chance for the better. Good luck!

You are right! CDW has a lot of great people. I don't think they're doing that bad, compared to their competitors. Rumors are spreading about another layoff, they need to check with the people in HR and CWS, they're the ones leaking the information, false information! The coworkers spreading these false rumors need to STOP! CDW is doing well in this economy.

I work for a company who is (was?) a decent-sized customer of CDW, and I just found out that I apparently lost my rep. I have no clue who is supposed to be handling my account anymore. Would have been nice if the customers were notified.

Usaully the accounts are spread out if a rep leaves. I know several that left due to family emergencies this year so it may have happened quickly. Hopefully you will hear from someone soon.

I worked there for 6.5 years. I can quote JE saying that it might happen again this summer and that they have no clue how much further they are going to go down, although they can last over a year with out a single sale because of money in the bank. But even with that, they are not doing well in this economy.

you may now go drink the company kool-aid.

And I agree with all of the ex coworkers here. They have nailed it on the head.

CDW has always done good as a supplier by me. Good pricing, good logistics, intelligent and aggressive reps. Never a problem straitening out any problems that arise. Wish more vendors were like them.

Seeing as how we're already into the 3rd quarter, I'm guessing there won't be further layoffs this year?

I keep in touch with several coworkers, there are still rumors floating around of another layoff. Right now they're cutting bonuses and other perks. Executives are quiting, so they say.

Either this is a rebuttal by a current CDW employee or someoneís twelve year old is posting up. Ha ha!
The money we received from Michael Krasny came in one nice paycheck with nothing noted about paying any amount back for any reason. Iíve quit and kept all I got, others have retired and Iíve seen a few terminated and everyone kept their CDW selling bonus.
ďMikeĒ said it best on page 1 ďKrasny created CDW at a time when the vast majority of people were technologically illiterate. They were happy to pay high prices because product was recommended by actual employees who knew what they were talking about and the product was in stock. The market has changed and CDW has failed to adapt to it. Your average homeowners understand what a network is because many homes have a few computers. They require the same products business do, just on a smaller scale. From Dell to NewEgg the competition gets it. It's all about price and quality service now. The two key necessities CDW has been lacking since they have become a telemarketing institution.Ē Michael Krasny ainít coming back and even if he did, he couldnít change this mess. Krasny got lucky! His parents owned a Toyota dealership and got sick of selling cars. Tech was coming up and he was smart enough to jump on and create a business as a reseller. He was smart enough to do that. Krasny isnít a Harvard MBA not does he have the vast business acumen to turn his old company around.
CDW needs a massive restructuring including layoffs and eliminating locations. They may not be gone yet but the crisis is knocking on the door and they donít have any answers. I feel bad for the actual employees but itís going to be weird watching the once king spiral downward.
How much did people get and dideveryone benefit from the buyout? Instant millionaires?

There was a sliding scale for payment depending on your 2006 salary plus the number of years you worked at CDW. For instance, 1 year of service plus a $20k salary got you $8,532 and someone who worked there for 15 years with an annual salary of $100k got $73,619. One-third of that total was paid out to the coworker and the other two-thirds was to be invested in the equity of a new company called CDW Holdings, LLC.
Not much has every been said about the new company. Most people consider that money gone.
