I found a couple great deals at amazon.com this christmas using this web site:

http://www.zingsale.com

It's a free service that tracks prices of products from online stores (like amazon) and sends you an email when the price drops.

Amen, Crooks. Malls suck!

If I'd actually had money to spend on Christmas gifts this year, I would have bought them online.

I set the goal of not buying ANYTHING retail this holiday season - nothing. I figured if I couldn't get it off of the Internet - I wouldn't buy it. I saved 10.25% on everything I did buy.
Why would anyone - except a lazy fool, pay Daley and Stroger's sales-tax? Maybe we can force 'em to get rid of a few thousand 'workers.' Maybe we can get rid of some of the strip-stores, malls and other eye-sores, and make 'em into parks. Maybe we can take OUR government back from the crooks [Daley, Stroger, Blago, the Jones', the Jackson's, the Madigan's, etc, etc].
Nope, no retail for me - at least NEVER in Chicago and/or Cook County. I mean, where's the value-added?
If we're lucky, the two results of this deepening recession are going to be that government is going to be FORCED to downsize and that there will be far fewer retailers/blights upon the landscape in short order.
Nope, no retail for me - I'm doing my patriotic duty not to support irresponsible local government and/or our enemies [China, etc].
Get real folks; close your wallets and stop buying crap, and stop supporting absurd government that's only corrupt and wasteful.
Prepare for the barter-economy, it'll be here before you know it.

I'm sure yesterdays ice storm did quite a lot to convince tepid shoppers to stay home.

We're in an economic downturn.

Sales will drop. No one would expect an increase in spending.

It's just a question of how much.

But these stories are notoriously short on details, they only have so much space.

When they talk about retail sales, do they mean dollar amount or total items purchased?

Because if it's in $, then people could buy more things, but still see a decline in sales.

So it's a big difference between buying less and buying cheaper.

North Riverside Mall was a zoo yesterday so at least the ghetto people are still spending money!
Mexicans and Blacks are the only people with money because they have had it handed to them or they are maxing out Credit Cards.

Shop to you drop because me and Tommy are paying for it.

Yeah save 10.25% on sales tax, but pay the tax and shipping online. Real savings there.

I usually shop Amazon but even their so called deals were not really that great.

My husband works the night shift and he stopped at Wal Mart on the way home.

He was like those deals are not even worth it.
They want people to buy then they should have some better deals.

We compare shop.
We are tired of family that whine and complain.
We are debit free through a lot of hard work.

We see family go spend spend spend.

Then ask us for money when we live on one income and they have two incomes and make more than we do.

If you can't afford it do not buy it.

Amazon had a spike because of the Northeast ice storm that coincided with Amazon's sudden reduction in Wii pricing. People couldn't go out and buy so they did it online from their hotels during the blackout. The spike came because Amazon finally shifted their strategy to offering Wii at the more fair $249 price (after previously failing to sell them at an over inflated price ... plus, the spike happened when all the retail stores were already sold out of Wii. Before the "spike" they weren't selling much Wii that's for sure.
Like the article says, we don't know if their total in sales was better than last year because Amazon PR conveniently doesn't tell us.

Some websites offer free shipping.

I shop on woot.com which charges a flat $5 shipping and no tax. You make up the $5 shipping on a taxless $50 purchase. Plus their prices are generally lower than stores or even other online sites.

Then it's all whitey's fault when they get in over their heads and get foreclosed on their house. Oh well, at least they're proping up the economy. Imagine if they weren't overspending! We'd be in a depression.

If you think whites and other races are not foreclosing or overspending then you are really out of touch with reality.

Amazon.com rocks! I bought numerous items from them this Christmas and got free shipping on them all. You can't beat a deal like that!

While the deals out there are good, still the best ways to are using online discount codes, comparison shopping sites, and rebate sites. Many retailers have discount codes you key in to save money. Also, some shopping/research sites will give you cash back for shopping at retailers (like 5% Walmart, 7% Borders) just for registering. Also, I found this site to be a good resource to learn more about them.

No mention in this article that all of northern Illinois, Iowa and Indiana were covered with a thick coating of ice on Dec. 26 that made car and foot travel next to impossible. Record numbers of accidents. Come on. We couldn't even walk three blocks to Macy's on State Street and we know driving to a mall in the burbs was pure danger. A bit more complete reporting, please.

I would not shop in Chicago even though I work there because of the 10.25 tax and the political policy that the Democratic leadership has. Chicago has had over 500 murders this year so far and that is the highest in the nation. As you shop in Chicago you cannot defend yourself if a problem comes up. No thanks I spend my money online or in Will County where the tax rate is much lower. With online free shipping and in many cases no tax how can you justify the money wasters in Chicago charging 10.25 % tax? The highest rate in the nation! I think people are finally understanding this. Give them less tax money and watch the government shrink.
