Thank you. I am 22, and a lot more needy of free rides than these seniors are. Why should they get to ride for free, while my fares go up, and I can barely afford to ride the CTA now. I understand that they have paid taxes for a while, and are more deserving in that aspect, but what about all the future tax money you may lose from me if I decide to move to a city that values their youth, and understands their predicaments.

Yes, Ms. Bell, it does sound a bit selfish. Why do you think you deserve a free ride?

I am glad to read that there are seniors willing and capable to pay the reduced fare. I am also glad to read that the free ride program will continue for those not able to pay. This is a great program for those folks who feel the pinch even with the reduced fare.

Yes Ms Bell, you are f* selfish. Why should you get free rides if you in fact have the ability to pay? Matter of fact, by the very nature of your statement makes you sound like you know it's wrong to get something free if you can afford it, but heck, you take it anyway just because you can. Yet when the system goes bankrupt, partly because of being forced to offer free rides to those who don't necessarily deserve them, then people like you will all of a sudden complain.

Like I said when this issue first surfaced, make free rides only available for those seniors in the Circuit Breaker program, just like they mandated the disability rides free program.

The other thing strangling the economy is the draconian Blagoban that's chasing so many people across the state line.

As a member of the Greatest Generation having been a victim of the Great Depression , dues-paying member of AARP and survivor of World War II, I am entitled to not only the gratitude but reparations an d compensation that the subsequent generations owe to me. What the state should, but is not doing is to reimburse us for the cost of operating and licensing our motor vehicles.

Older people should be paying twice as much .... for slowing everyone else down. It takes then twice as long to board and disembark. Pay double or stay home- where you belong. No one rides for free.

OK,take the free rides from the seniors and everything will run just fine at the Metra and Pace and the CTA....yaaa right,it will be something else after they take those free rides away.
Somemore magic numbers from the CTA, 21 million free rides,2 million free rides from Metra, haaaaaaaaa .....wow!!!
They know how to come up with those magicical numbers when they want...take the free rides away... who cares?? That will put all those agencies back in the black and runnig smooth.

The free rides from Blago was an idiotic idea. Seniors who need help and qualify should get free rides or discounts. People who can afford to should pay there fair share.

Start charging for those rides! enough handouts, especially to a generation that had a much better chance of enjoying a pension plan, taking more from SS than they put in, didn't pay anywhere near the amt of taxes younger and middle age folks pay these days, etc, etc, etc. I don't understand where this entitlement mentality of free rides for seniors comes from. Because they raised their families and are now on a fixed income? So is everyone else, time to pay up. Especially seeing these quotes from someone living in Naperville or North Shore riders - crimony, they can pay a double fare. In fact, the CTA could start charging more for the higher demand routes! why not.

Why not let Obama make rides free for everybody? That's the way it was in the Soviet Union.
