Theres an article in this weeks paper about the city trying to "clean up" the town, and I hope they get it done. Its long overdue. Its too bad that people don't have enough common sense to do it without being told. I have no idea what plucking out your eye has to do with someone being too lazy to clean up their yard, good example of twisting scripture to fit your need. Maybe a person doesn't have any pride about their house, yard ,neighborhood etc. but the rest of us that enjoy looking at clean, pretty, nice things don't have to "look the other way" either. Maybe you'd like Mexico better .

Keep up the good work council members.

Why point your finger at Mexico ... there's plenty of Auburn Nebraska born and raised home grown slobs who are too lazy to clean up their yards ... don't be a pompous cornhead.

Hey, for one maybe just maybe not all people can be high class snobs! Maybe just maybe some people do not have enough money to fix their houses up! so if you snobs want to look at pretty things how about helping out your community to improve the less fortunate to improve the "VIEW" that you are looking at! instead of complaining shut up and do something about it! not everyone has money coming out of their butts. Maybe just maybe some residents do have "PRIDE" in their property, but again they don't have the wealth to fix it. They should not be put down for it. Not everyone is blessed with a great job or life! It is not their fault at all! the sooner you snobs realize this the better the community in whole could be! Stop passing judgement on people, it is not right to judge other people the way some of you do! Step back and look around you. people try they really do! So again please do not judge!!

It doesn't take money/weath to clean up your property. Just get off your backside, and pick up unsightly stuff strewn about the yard. Cut the grass, rake it, and dump the clippings at the city yard waste area south of town.
Make an effort, not an excuse.

Yah, I agree .... also, it's not just a matter of wealth but a matter of ability. My 80+ year old dad helps out his 90+ year old neighbor lady to keep her yard up ... but let's face it ... they could use some help! As much as he's helping, there's still a lot he can't do - and even though what he does helps make her property look nicer - there's so much more that a younger person could lend a hand to. Why not get some able bodied middle and high school kids to start helping out these elder folks. Make some of these kids take some pride in their town too.

This nuisance law is about junk and trash in the yard, high weeds and grass, unlicensed vehicles. No ones passing judgement just want the town to look nice

The Humboldt City Council received an update on nuisance property enforcement Tuesday night. Code Enforcer Emily Bausch presented the update in a slide show to the council.
Letters were sent out 30 days ago to property owners who need to clean properties or make repairs, and Bausch said she believes that improvements have been made since then.
One of the nuisance letters was sent to the City of Humboldt itself, due to some broken windows on the second floor of the Library building. The council awarded a bid to McNealy Construction to replace five windows and enclose two doors in the Library at a cost of $1,650.
