I have a question for those Venus residents posting here, regarding the upcoming elections. I recently found out that residents using City water got the election information in thier water bills. Out here in Patriot Estates, we use Mountain Peak. So the questions are:
1) Are the water bills and sewer bills from the City sent in the same bill or together?
2) Does anyone still have the election information sent to them from the City?
3) Is the Venus ISD election information also sent in the water bills?

Thank you.
1) City and school board posted all the information on their web site since at least February and outside of city hall and school admin building for public viewing.
2) elections are every year for city in May. Sign-ups are in February.
3) School Board elections are in May and sign-ups are in February.
web sites:
City of Venus: www.cityofvenus.org
VENUS ISD: www.venusisd.net

All the information is out there for all to see.

GW, I know that. However, you did not answer the questions. My questions are about the additional means in which information is distributed.

GW, I took another look and granted, the election locations, dates and times are posted. There is NOTHING regarding the candidates for the City positions, NOTHING about open positions for the City, etc.
What information I am looking for is: Are the residents of Venus proper being treated or given more information by the City than the residents of Patriot Estates? From what I have seen, the answer is YES. Now the question is WHY?

I am sorry you were offended. I am not sure what I did was offensive. I am Bruce. And yes, the adults go through the same questions. This is not the forum to address the reasons why. However, I am willing to meet with you and explain what it is that I do, how I do it and what circumstances dictate what I ask of who I contact. So pick a time and let's meet at the park. I am available anytime. Deal?

I am very sorry to hear about someone being offended at the pool by questions, but at the same time while i have yet to meet Bruce I have been asked more in the last week than any other time if I was a resident. The first week of summer was a living nightmare at the pool. The first night was discussions on oral sex by 14 year holds, next was who to select as your babies daddy because they would actually call you back after they got you pregnant, and the last one was really rowdy teens that could care less who was in the pool.
As a mother of young ones, it was disturbing! I tried to control them every night but their back talk and foul mouths were too much for my kids. I really appreciate all those parents who take an active roll in their children's lives, as well as those in our community who are trying to police those who lack those positive influences.

patriot resident, I am glad to hear that I am not the only one asking about residency and it appears you have not been offended by that. You seem to understand why. Although we are a small community, noboby knows everyone living here. As the Neighborhood Watch Chairman, and having about 25 other residents in the group, they may be the ones asking. They may not. I have talked to many residents and they know it is our pool and as such everyone has the right to help enforce the residency rules. So far this season, I persoanlly have had 14 trespass tickets issued by the police for that. They do patrol the pool at night and have issued trespass and curfew citations I don't know about.
Regarding the actions of the kids. It is a criminal offense for a child to use foul language. So is alcohol. So call the police if you wish. When you see rowdy kids, try and find out who they are. The unfortunate thing is with school out, parents are letting the kids use the pool as a babysitter.
If you see a middle aged man with a Neighbor Hood Watch ballcap on, that's probably me. Say hi. I do not keep a "schedule" of when I go there. It really throws them off.
You can always contact the HOA and complain. Although they may not do much, the more complaints they get, perhaps they will finally get the message that something more than a group of volunteers is needed.
There are many issues regarding this that I will not address in this forum.
If you want more information, write to me at cwpevenus@gmail.com and let's talk!

Venus is a nasty backward town. Just drive around the square. There are a lot of people who think they are big shots for this dumpy town.
They hate growth, and it shows. Very unfriendly to businesses trying to get established.

Unfriendly to businesses trying to get started? In what way does the City stifle growth? Please back up your statement with some facts!

My family and I moved here to Venus this past December from a small town in Michigan. I searched many of the smaller towns in the area and talked with all the schools and Venus was the town that we fealt most comfortable moving to on the other side of the country. My wife and I are both working professional, I am an engineer for an aviation company, and my wife is in accounting with an automotive company. Not knowing a single person, or seeing firsthand how the school district was, and so on, we decided to rent for atleast one year before we decided to build or buy. Our son is an honors student and has been able to continue that since we moved here which I am grateful, and he seems to be adapting well to this move.
Here is why I am writing on here though. We like Venus, and daily we meet new people and neighbors. That said, we are constantly getting negative feedback from people because we are a renter and not an owner. My understanding is there has been and still are some individuals and families that rent in our sub that have been an issue or problem. We really want this to work out here and would like to build a home here in Patriot Estates, but we are feeling less and less positive about that plan.
I would love to know from anyone in the neighborhood if there is anything we need to do to help ease any of the tension we are feeling from everyone or if anyone has been in the same position as we are. We do like the sub but we are considering just buying property nearby and building a house and just stay within Venus but not the Patriot Estates.
Sorry for rambling but look forward to hearing anyones response.

Dear Rick,
I am so sad to hear that a few home owners here in Patriot Estates have been so rude to you. My wife and I were renters in CA before moving here. For one to discriminate, based on whether or not you own your home, is well, just rude.

I can tell you that our former landlords have become some of our greatest references, as their homes were always treated as our own.

Venus is a small town, and does have it's issues just as any other town. Obviously we do not have some of the amenities as larger towns, but I feel we can still have the charm os a small town.

Our family would love to welcome you to our neighborhood, and don't let a few sour attitudes get you down.

Hey great to have your family here in Venus. Regardless of what you hear from the "haters" there is an overwhelming amount of the population in this town that actually are proud to be living in Venus.
I hope you choose to make Venus a permanent place for your family, regardless if you rent or not, it doesn't matter.
