SCAT will add Sunday and late-night service on Monday

SARASOTA - Sarasota County Area Transit will launch new services including Sunday hours and extended evening and late-night hours for several popular routes on Monday.

For months, SCAT has been gearing up for this major expansion of services, which includes the first-ever Sunday and late-night hours funded through the county's general revenues, according to a county press release.

'Many of our transit riders have been asking for seven-day-a-week service that extends into the evening and late night,' SCAT General Manager Anthony Beckford stated in the release. 'With the support and commitment of the Sarasota County Commission, we are finally able to satisfy that need with a schedule that is more convenient for riders and provides greater coverage on some of our strongest-performing routes.'
